haha I have had my red/black on for about 6 months now and am itching to change it. im going to be buying a slightly used pam 88....i know, i swore i wouldnt do it, but for the tax advantage...i think its worth it...that watch looks nice on your wrist, the beefy case suits you well.

Tell me this....when you switched from the gmt to sd, doesnt the clasp feel extremely large? i know when i wear my gmt for a week then switch to the lv, its feels completly different. god i love these rollies!

The clasp is much larger. My GMT had the old clasp on it (pre flip-lock), so it's much different from what I'm used to. I much prefer the flip-lock!

Agreed, Jeff. I've always preferred the longer SD/Sub clasps to the shorter Oysterlock ones of the GMT-II and Explorers.

Nice sd, welcome to the club.
There's a lot wrong with the GMT clasp, there's the pin in the link that's loose and I found it really easy to pop open.

The sd clasp is much more secure with the flip lock but mine is showing lots of wear particularly at the 12 oclock side of the clasp. The clasp is also wearing a hole in the left hand corner of my laptop where I rest my wrist to type.

The GMT-II comes with the flip-lock bracelet, Jeff. If you had just traded the GMT for a GMT-II you would have gotten the better watch and the right bracelet.

It sounds like the SD fliplock is larger than the GMT fliplock. I guess because the SD is hiding extra diving links. Is this right?

I was always under the impression the GMT II came with the Oysterlock clasp, am I wrong?

Just had a look in last year's catalogue and it shows the Explorer, Explorer II, GMT II, Yachtmaster and Daytona with the Oysterlock :

and the Submariner, Submariner Date and Seadweller using the Fliplock :

That's right, Justin. The OYSTERLOCK bracelet does NOT have the diver's extension links, so has a shorter clasp and is available on the GMT-II and the Explorers.

The OYSTER FLIPLOCK bracelet is the one with the diver's extension links and hence the longer clasp with 8 holes. This one is ONLY available with the SUBS and the SD.
