Rolex makes 1 million a year--see below: Do a search and you will find it out for yourself though. Rolex is a marketing machine that makes and sells more high end watches than anyone! I will always love Rolex as to me they represent the best everyday watch in terms of durability and reliability!

A group of watch experts got together and did some math based on some publicly available information in order to either validate or invalidate Rolex's claim that it takes a year to make a Rolex that Rolex uses in their advertising.

This group determined that Rolex produces nearly 1,000,000 watches per year. 800,000 of those watches are recorded by the COSC. Rolex also produces pieces that are not certified by the COSC.

Rolex publicly claims to have approximately 5,000 employees.

Watch experts know from figures released by other mass producers of watches that approximately 2/3 of employees of watch companies work in the production of the watches.

This means that approximately 3,000 employees are producing nearly 1,000,000 Rolex watches per year.
Each of these employees is not a watchmaker. Many are involved in running machines that produce massive quantities of components and watch cases, etc. Take into account that people typically only work 5 days a week and also have a couple of weeks of vacation time and also have sick time and holidays off of work and you come up with 1,000,000 watches per approximately 240 days. So that means that Rolex is churning out something like 4100 watches per day. Every day of the work week.

The RO steel bracelet is definitely one of the best, and I although they do make great rubber straps, you might want to try on an AP with a bracelet to see the difference.

I decided on the RO chronograph but lots of great ROOs posted above as well.

As others have mentioned, if you buy it at the right price it should hold its value decently well. I've seen a few LNIB/mint on the TRF sales forum at pretty good prices.

Cheers,
James

Congrats on the M3. I've had 5 of them and they really are great all around (ie has a trunk) cars.

Did you get a stick or paddle shifters?

Stick.....this one became available at too good a price Chris and that was its option. Very happy with it though. Not much traffic here and I am enjoying the v8 through the 6 speed manual

5 of them.....wow

Which has been your favorite version?

The original e30 was by far my favorite, but I used to race the e36 so I have a soft spot for that one as well. I never owned the current iteration. Good choice on the stick, I would have opted for that as well.

although iam planning to sell my sub and get the diver soon (cuz dalip have one), but seriously we should not thrown on numbers without knowing real and full info.and with all respectful you did not provide any OFFICIAL evidence on the highlighted sentence. i mean who are " A group of watch experts"??. and where is that sci. reference?? again i just want to be sure that this is true sentence not a repeated sentence that have been thrown 100 times till we beleaives it without getting real confirmation or official source. finally iam sure that rolex produce many watches per year and way more than AP which also has its + and -

BTW I give thinking how a watch can take a year to produce?

last question for you and AP owners. why you think Rolex is best for everyday, i mean do you guys really think a sub would be better than the AP diver for everyday??? i dont think so BUT prefer to know your ideas.

Truthfully- who cares? AP makes 20k watches a year and it is pretty well known in watch world that Rolex makes close to a million a year. At the end of the day whether it is 990k or 1.1 mm it is a lot more than 20k. If you want specific numbers and it is that important to you do some research. Best of luck in your research and on the Diver too.
