Go for the TT Sub, it seems to be your dream watch, until you go full gold after a couple of years on trf . Buy it at 20-30% off retail and then if you decide it isn't right for you then you can easily trade into a black Subc or GMTc.

I prefer the GMT TT, really useful 24 hr hand and I find the blue of the sub in combination with the TT just a touch over the top if compared.
Would love to own the Sub though.

Was in a tense business negotiation this week my TT Daytona on one side the other side a TT Sub....... Never too old for me in that choice I would go the GMT.

I dunno, that daytona is stunning! As I stated before the gmt really makes sense for traveling, and all I have now is SS watches so I really need something to break it up. Those pictures of GMTS in the wild are hard to resist!

Tough to say if you're too young - you didn't mention how old you are. If you are still in grade school go with SS. Precious metal is a little too flashy for the playground.

Though some seem to think the TT Sub and GMT are clones of each other, I don't think so and the GMT just looks a lot better in TT and YG to my eye. The bezel markings just make for a more balanced look, providing a little more gold content that highlights it better, imho. I suppose I also have it in my head that it looks more appropriate to the model since between the two the GMT is more of a white collar/executive tool than the Sub.

Many here, including myself, consider the GMT to be the best looking TT watch in the entire Rolex line.

Both great watches. Let us know what you decide.

I love the blue TT Sub, very iconic watch and you do like to dive.
No reason to spend $12k on a new one (or close anyway), check out used prices and save some $.

It's a tough choice, but it seems you prefer the Sub.
BTW, why are 2 tone watches less popular in Europe?

Do it! GMT. I do to care if you are 5 years old, Rolex is good taste and class.

My daughter is 10 and she already picked the Rolex she wants... GMT like daddy ;-)

Never too young for a TT watch.
I bought my 1st Rolex when I was 19, a TT DATE. Second was a TT YM. Then I went to SS.
If your going to go with a black dial then for sure go with the GMT. If you want a SUB then go for that beautiful bluesy. I would look for a non-ceramic/vintage if you were looking at the bluesy, but that's just my opinion.

Good luck with your decision.

If you don't have a SS Rolex at this time, I'd go that route first. It's easier to move up versus getting buyer's remorse and taking it in the shorts in resale or trade.

You certainly aren't too young for a TT, but I think the SS would be a bit more versatile. You can't go wrong with either the GMT or Sub. The only advantage the Sub has IMO, having owned both, is the newer ceramic bezel sub has the glidelock clasp where the GMT does not. The GMT has polished center links, but they are prone to hairline scratches.

I wish Rolex would offer Rose Gold for their TT Sub and GMT.

Some think Subs should only be SS because they are a "tool" watch, but that argument really doesn't hold much water, since most people would never consider a $8000+ watch anything like a "tool". It's more like "jewelry" at that point.

I'm 36, have a TT Sub and a TT DJ on jubilee. So no, u aren't too old. You can get a nice 16613 for around 6-7K, save a significant amount of money from 12k, and wear it for 50 years if u take care of it. Mine is a K Serial circa early 2000s. Looks almost brand new in person.

After reading these posts I guess age really has nothing to do with it. The gmt is a such a well put together piece. And I have plenty of dive watches now. It a damn hard decision...
