Honestly, who cares if he is trying to make a profit on a watch he bought not knowing any better. Now that he does know he has the option of relisting properly or not it's up to the buyer to do the due diligence.
I for one don't care and understand the OP's position. Buyers need to be cautious!

Yup... The truth is it happens all the time and the more buyers read this thread the better!

Good use of Clips...still doesn't change the point of buyer's need to do homework when it comes to vintage or buy from a reputable dealer!!

Well here's 2 people in this thread I'll never buy a watch from.
How about all the dishonest people come out in this thread so it makes the hobby of buying vintage easier for everyone?

It makes me laugh when people expect vintage Rolex buying to be so simple and easy as buying a new Rolex.... Just take John Mayers example and you see it is not for the lazy...

Curious Watch Deal

Did I ever say anything vintage was easy? No. You are defending someone who is trying to take advantage of someone else. And your reasoning- "Who cares if he does something wrong, there's already a lot of criminals in this world". "It was his fault he got robbed officer, he's the one who walked onto the street with money in his pockets". I guess you look at things different when your an honest person.

It's not sympathy... Simply the world we live in and I am not going to pretend it doesn't happen.

Of course buyers should be cautious but that's just not ok. It's not ethical period! Why post something that's on the verge of defending him.
There is right and wrong. This here definiely sits on the "wrong" side of things. Glad the WUS mod shut it down. |

Ok so he buys a watch on impulse
Gets burned Instead of returning it He tries to dump it for 100% profit and burn someone else and you defend his actions because ... caveat emptor ?

Even more so, as pointed out by WingZero its a fake (long E and space between 1 and 2?) so OP should get his money back from the "reputable" seller as per his 1st post?
It can be a horrible shady world at times! |

Sorry but that's a mess of junk.
The 'curious watch deal' is that you're now trying to flog it, saying: you 'lost' the oyster bracelet, but you put the jubilee on it (really?) and you're going to toss in a few free straps to sweeten the deal (!) and, it's a mere $8,100, with 'free shipping' (no, surely that will be the $100 - which is what the whole abomination is worth) !! Tragic. Yep, 'people make mistakes' and you've made a quite a few. |

Hilarious...gotta love the people who seem so innocent and are innocent watch purchasers yet are able to produce pictures with the case back off, etc.
And know enough detail ie. reference number that the average person would never know...but are babes in the woods about authenticity... Better yet...OP doesn't know if watch is authentic but posts it for sale and is able to determine mfr date based on serial number...yet here claims it is at his jeweler? I've got 100% feedback for you but won't say it here...but it begins with a "l" ends with a "r" and has an "I" and "a" between those letters. |

Yes. Drunk...very drunk and was having fun getting people all wound up... I Apologize for causing a stir, and obviously agree with you all that he shouldn't scam people. However, I still think this thread is good for potential buyers to read and understand that buying vintage is no walk in the park.
Now I need an IV to get rehydrated and a big cup of coffee. Again... I do apologize for my rambles in my previous posts, but they were all in good (drunk) fun...

Wow, that's a horrible fake Sub. We all know that buying vintage Rolexes can be tricky, but 2 minutes on Google would tell you that the watch was all wrong. The original story about the jeweler doesn't sound legit at all. Interesting read. Depressing, too.
