Not a Rolex but my planet ocean is just thrown in the valuables pocket on its own...as will a Rolex when I eventually get one.

No idea why it would be safe in there, it's not like the bag gets hit or anything.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not worried about damaging my watch, I don't like the feel of it on my wrist while playing. I ordered a Casebudi and a Rolex pouch with divider. Look forward to seeing how they work. Thanks again.

It stays home. I don't like anything on my wrist when I play and am not comfortable leaving it in my bag since it invariably goes unattended during the round (what with valets, trip to the out station, occasionally forgetting it when going into the grill room for beverage post-round). Personally I just slump it with my cell phone to tell me the time if I need it.

But if I did take it with me I'd leave an extra casebudi in my bag to handle storing it.

x2 what Brian said!

I wrap mine in a soft towel and put it in a golf bag pocket with my car keys and a ring I normally wear. My golf bag is always near me at the course so not worried about theft. I personally don't wear mine playing not for fear of damage to the watch from the golf swing, but I don't want to bang it around as I reach for clubs and such while playing. Have a great round.

Cheers, Tim

Valuables Pouch

Any suggestions?
As you stated some/most bag manufacturers incorporate a valuables pocket, usually with a "hidden" zipper and soft material lining, into the golf bag.

I also got from Titleist (titleist.com) a great little "valuables pouch" which is thick/heavy black felt with drawstrings. In this, while playing/practicing, I keep my watch which then goes into the valuables pocket along with my car keys. Generally having the car keys and watch (in the protective pouch) in the same pocket of the bag helps keep me from leaving the club without my watch, even after some post round wind down time in the grill room...

Taking off your watch to play golf to avoid "damage" is insane. You're over-thinking things way too much.

The force placed on the watch from the impact of you striking the ball can damage the movement.

However, I think this mainly applies to lower tier watches that just throw a standard 3rd party movement into a watch case and call it a day.

If you have a modern Rolex you should be just fine.

Omega even had an article in one of their Lifetime magazine's where Hank Haney wore his Aqua Terra for several weeks while he played, practiced, gave lessones, etc. and they tested it afterwards and nothing changed with the watch performance wise.

Michelson wears a Cellini while playing
I stood next to Bubba Watson today and all I could do was stare at his white Mille tourbillon. He was playing with it on.
It must be cool to walk around with $500k on your wrist

I usually leave mine at home but if I'm wearing it when I get there, I'll leave it in the trunk in a watch case.

I either leave it at home or I put it in an old Crown Royal bag and put that in my golf bag.

I've played wearing a Rolex Sub and GMT and it just feels a bit too heavy to me

So my golfing watch of preference is currently a TT Cartier Santos Galbee.

Perfect weight, looks good and is extremely robust ...... Just need to work on my golf........

My Nike bag has a soft pouch meant for a watch. I put my watch into a small casebudi and put it in there. ALWAYs remember to take it with you if you leave your bag.

My preference when playing is to not wear a watch. I don't think it makes a difference in my swing, but I don't like the tan line. If I am leaving from my house to play golf, I leave it at home. If I happen to play an unexpected round and have my watch with me, I either wear it or lock it in my glovebox. There is less of a chance of someone breaking into my car AND getting into the locked glovebox, than someone swiping my golf bag from outside the club house. Golf bags get stolen all the time, no matter how nice the course.

I keep mine in my car. I wear a GPS watch while playing. The minute I get back to the car, my Rolex goes back on.

I take mine off between swings. After I hit my shot I put the watch back on. When I get to my next shot, I'll take it off and hand it to my "watch caddie." Most courses have watch caddies and they charge a minimal fee...$3 per hole. They'll hold your watch while you hit. But on a more serious note, is the concern the wear on the watch or where to put the watch during the round because it feels uncomfortable?

I've always worn my sub or air king and no problems. I do use the oakley case for travelling/storage and think it's a good one.

I have heard few things more ridiculous than the theory that the shock from the impact of the club head with the ball (both little ball and big ball) has a negative affect on the movement of a watch. That's just not how the golf swing works.
