That's a good question because the GMTIIC also has the triple lock crown. When comparing my Sub LV to my GMTIIC the overall thickness of the watch is less on the GMTIIC and the crystal and caseback appear to be thinner than the SUB.

I think I will pose this question in a new thread.

I seem to recall reading something about the case-back being thinner on the GMT vs. the Sub which could allow for flex & at deeper depths due to pressure & compromise water resistance. I think this was in regards to the old style though. Not sure if it applies to the new. I'm sure someone will chime in shortly with the correct answer.

My .02, it's a mute point since none of us will be diving anywhere close to 50m much less 100m. Buy what smiles at you. The LV just doesn't do it for me due to the green, I'd go with the GMT IIc.

I say focus on the features of each watch.

If you time things like I do, the LV is the obvious choice.

If you need to monitor 2 times zones, then get the GMT.

I was considering the Sub w/date before my AD introduced me to the IIc. I tried on the IIc and the rest is history. I LOVE the watch and think you will to. However, it's personal preference and you can't go wrong with either one. My next watch will be a Sub version of some sort (not sure if I want the date or no date).

My opinion is the sub is...a sub with a green bezel. I don't like green.

The Gmt IIc is a complete new design, new movement and a more attractive watch. Three time zones vs one for the sub. Would I use either to dive with, no. There are much better instruments out there to dive with than a Rolex watch.

I prefer the GMT, but I know there are many sub lovers out there who would disagree.

I think you are right about the case and crystal but it is not exactly a mute point. I have retired from commercial diving and don't go that deep any more, but I have been considerably deeper in my diving career and I still know a few guys in the business who are doing some 1000 foot work or so.

If it’s just a SS GMTIIc I would have to go with the LV. IF it’s a TT, the GMT IIc. I still think that it’s the handsomest watch I have ever laid eyes on!!!

I'm still not a fan of the newer block cases, so I would pick the lines of the LV, .......then change the green bezel for a black one.....
