For me its a plus if a woman knows her luxury items. Get to know her better and go out on more dates. The real plus if she has a good personality and you guys would hit it off.

I haven't been available for 28 years, but I think I would appreciate someone who appreciated my passion for timepieces... call it a bonding opportunity. That said, it would take many, many dates before I would consider buying her a Rolex or Tudor, despite her Master Diver status.

I've been single for a while, and I do enjoy it...Having been on many first (and second, etc) dates, I've yet to find any woman who has said "That's a Rolex"

They usually say 'That's a nice watch, can I see it?', then it's all downhill from there.

Pics or gtfo :-)

Master diver is a decent level certification that requires at least 50 dives and a few courses under the belt. Tech diving certifiacations are more challenging and expensive.

Also this is a good reason to upgrade to a Patek or ALS. Good sleeper brands.

As for the Submariner, if her wrists are really THAT thin then maybe steer her towards a baby YM. Still had the uni-directional bezel, 100m depth rating and looks a lot dressier for when she's not diving.

Not sure how you can have a 'luxurious' Land Rover and a watch like that and be of 'insubstantial means' either unless Mick Jagger is your idea of affluent
Perfectly worded. The smaller YM is an awesome piece, and would probably suit her well.

look folks, all women notice your entire outfit, including watches, shoes, socks, cologne, facial hair, etc. etc. etc. on your first date (and all subsequent dates as well).
This one just spoke out.

Being a gentleman of very insubstantial means, of 41 years of age, and living in a very small dating pool, I was rather chuffed when I should acquire a dog walking date with a very attractive lady. The date itself went well, but.....

On the way back, she said something like 'you really do like nice things, don't you? Your Land Rover is really quite luxurious.... and that's a Rolex you're wearing, isn't it?'

Of course, there was no issue with the question; I didn't mind in the slightest. I was just somewhat surprised for it to be brought up! In fact, it is the first time I have ever been called out on my watch! I was wondering if this sort of thing has happened to any of you? Of course, I imagine that in the business world gentlemen and ladies comment on each others finery -- but has anyone had their Rolex noted on a first date? Have any of you WISs of the female gender ever commented on a date's watch?

My date did not have a Rolex of her own, but has always favoured the Submariner, as she is actually a diver (actually, she called herself a master diver, or something to that effect.... not a tech diver, but the next one down... anyone familiar with diving terminology?) She indicated that she always fancied one, but has scarily thin wrists (she is, in fact, scarily thin all over). I recommended a NATO -- any other suggestions?

We gonna get a picture of her or what?

Hey Steve,

Let's see some pics of the dog!

My wife just told me a few years ago that on the night we first met she had noticed that I was wearing a Rolex, and it signaled to her that I knew and appreciated quality. She already had two Rolexes of her own, but was wearing a Swatch scuba watch when we met, so she clearly wasn't "gold digging".

It turned out she was wrong - I didn't know jack about quality items, I was just a watch freak!

Anyway, enjoy being single! Sounds like you've found a good dog-walking mate if nothing else. Relax and have fun.

Around 4 1/2" I would guess from looking. Tiny!

Well, I wasn't always broke! I've had the landy a few years now, but I am researching for an unfunded PhD and things will be pretty tight until I secure a bit of funding from somewhere!
