But almost immediately after picking up the Daytona, I started looking around. SkyD, DJ, SD, maybe even a used DD, until - once again, thanks TRF - completely falling for the Hulk. I've been to the AD here at least five times to try it on, and will pick one up once I get back to the States in a few weeks.

And there is the dilemma...as much as I'm DYING to get the LVc on my wrist, I am pretty sure that will be the last watch I buy for a few years. But the thing is, I really like the process leading up to the purchase so much...reading TRF exhaustively, scrolling through the classifieds (both Rolex and non, b/c hey, you never know), and imagining the day I finally get to strap on the new one. It's not going to deter or even delay my purchase of the Hulk, but I will miss the chase, for lack of a better term, as I can't justify yet another watch nor do I want to flip either the Daytona or my yet-to-be-acquired LVc.

Am I alone in this? Or do you guys feel the same?

The hunt is the best part of the entire process, exciting, deal making etc. I have found that once you capture your watch, luxury sports car etc. the thrill is pretty much gone. I've been through this in my various interests throughout the years, applies to gun, car, knife collecting. I think it's the anticipation and sense of achievement that is somewhat fulfilling.

Literally no watch better than the Hulk. It plants its seed the first time you see it in person until your love for it finally blooms into an uncontrollable mass of green passion.

The first mistake is the statement 'this is the last watch I will buy for a few years'. If I had a Rolex for every time I said that, oh wait...

I recently got excited hunting for a new Kindle to replace my now dead existing unit

I've already decided on my next watch, where I'm getting it from and when. However, I still call into the boutique once a month to try it on (and several others) just to feel like I'm hunting. I'm disturbed in the head and I need help

Perhaps you should now get into vintage. That's where the real hunting is. Not quite like popping into the AD. That's shooting fish in a barrel compared to searching for unicorns with patina just so / xyz dial variant etc.
If I get into vintage, I am scared my wife will leave me. I'm not kidding. Then again, I have long dreamed of acquiring a 6538 on Nato just like Connery in Dr. No...if I could ever find one for a reasonable price (i.e. just shy of gutting my kids' college funds) I might pick one up.

Thanks! I always thought I too was a one-Rolex guy until I discovered the joys of TRF enabling. Now I'm not sure there is a limit (other than what my bank account will allow).

Thanks! As excited as I am to get back Stateside and see my family, I think I'm even more looking forward to picking up the LVc!

Intriguing...what about the PP satiated your hunger? I have to admit, I don't think it looks so great in the pics, but I've never seen one in person since the PP store here doesn't have much inventory. Maybe I'll have to take a look...and here we go again.

Pretty sure it's the LVc. Or maybe the SD43. Or maybe it's a Platona?

I did the same thing five years ago (visited family in the States and bought an LVc (from DavidSW)). Still love the watch and am wearing it today.

Pre-congrats! Be sure to share photos or your new beauty.

First, photos don't do it justice. Second, it wears well. Third, the watch screams quality when you snap it on your wrist.

Fourth, when I bought the watch I believed the inability to adjust the band was a design flaw. I've since changed my mind. Once fitted the watch becomes "yours", uniquely "yours". I can see this as a flaw for a flipper, but think about what Patek is selling -- a watch that chooses you and you alone.

Finally, there is the somewhat intangible allure of wearing a Patek as a tool watch. I see the 5067 as a basic tool watch. Is it as durable as any of my Rolexes? Probably not, then again in my opinion nothing really is. On the other hand the level of fit and finish on what is otherwise designed as a tool watch does it for me. I'm a bit of a noncomformist at heart. Wearing a 5067 makes me smile inside as it freaks out the "functional" tool watch guys and drives the PP crowd nuts as they think it is not at "real" Patek.

Thanks for the info! I will definitely take a look before firing on the LVc, though I would have to be very persuaded not to get the Hulk at this point.

I was infactuated with the LV. Had amazing pics posted here saved to my phone etc.

Once I finally bought it, I rarely wore it! Now been flipped in prep for a 5711

Crazy hobby :)
