SubC gets my vote, it's a watch you build a collection around...in my opinion at least.

That said, I also like the BLNR..just not as much as my 114060.

I just purchased the Sub as a 40th gift to myself as well. Love the watch...a classic piece that I've wanted since I was a kid.

I think it'll compliment my 16710 nicely.

I chose the BLNR. I have others but rarely wear them. I've worn this watch every day since I got it a year and a half ago. If I didn't like watches so much, I'd sell the rest and just keep the BLNR. As far as dress goes, I wear jeans or shorts and a t-shirt every day. Good luck with your decision!

No. No. It doesn't matter whether it does or not.

Get married, have some children, buy the 114060 and the 116710BLNR. Get married, have some children, buy the 114060 and the 116710BLNR.

They are both great watches, and either would be a good buy. For me - BLNR.

Look, dozens of people can tell you what they'd do. What matters is what you want. And from reading your post it really sounds like as much you're trying to love the Sub, you really want that BLNR. So go for it.

At one point I had both a BLNR and a Subc and felt that they were too similar so sold the submariner. But right away I missed the clean symmetrical no-date design and will be picking one up in the coming weeks. If you are debating now, you will eventually get both. They are both amazing watches.

Tough choice, both are great watches. I had both at the same time and the Sub ND is the one that stuck around. Many in this thread will choose the BLNR over the 114060 however for me it would be the opposite. I think the 114060 is as close as you can get to a perfect watch

I'm sure you'll have both eventually so the question is which one do you want first

I have the BLNR but recommend the ND. I'm going to guess you will be wearing the watch every day and the ND is the better daily than the BLNR. I love mine but to me it's a bit too special to wear every day w/ the PCL's and the bi color bezel. I love throwing it on on the weekends though, it brings back that first time feeling every time. If you are going to be wearing it on the weekends and special occasions get the BLNR but if not get the ND or even the sub date. The sub is a lot more versatile because you can literally wear it with anything.

I think you will eventually end up with both, that's what I'm looking to do. They work so well hand in hand. Whatever you choose first you can't go wrong!

Man, tough choice.

First of all, you have a Speedmaster Pro. The Speedy and the Sub are the all-time classic pair, in my opinion.

Then again, the Speedy is an all-business tool watch. No shine, no color, no date. Pairing it with the BLNR would give you 2 watches that would suit you in any occasion - one for when you want a splash of color and shine, and one for when you want a utilitarian work horse.

The decision is so difficult to make that I have all three - Sub, BLNR, Speedy - as I suspect many of us here do.

Whatever you decide, make sure you follow your heart, NOT your head.

Can't go wrong with either. Both watches IMHO are the very best that Rolex offer. A lot of people here are correct in saying you will end up with both so go for the more expensive model so that the cheaper one is easier to get later. This is coming from someone with a BLNR who is saving for a Sub.

One thing no one has mentioned is that the BLNR wears lighter than the Sub, if that matters.

I have the Sub as my only watch for five years now, but the BLNR is next on my list.

I will always choose a watch with a date window over one without it. And I do so love the GMT2 line. I'm a Pepsi guy myself.

I prefer the no date sub. I almost bought the BLNR, but I just don't care for the polished center links.
