It's turned out not to be quite as rosy as initially assumed. The watch has stopped three times on me in the month and a week since I bought it - presumed it was due to my inactivity on a business trip with lots of being stationary.
Today I took it to the RSC Vietnam and the man opened it and showed me the rotor wheel getting stuck on the body of the movement due to the incorrect central axel being installed. He said it had been badly serviced by somebody most certainly not at Rolex. In for a service now for $700. Balls! |

I would ask patrick if he would split that cost with you. Patrick is a great guy to do business with. It looks great on you. I think you will be very happy after the service. |

Agree! It also reinforces buying the seller. Where a trusted seller wouldn’t jeopardize their reputation selling a badly serviced watch or at least be honorary and upfront about it

After 1999 production year I believe that GMT II 16710 Pepsi serials came originally with a B in the certificate's style line - I think in the 7th character space after production year letter - like _16710Bxxxxx. Coke A, black N. Before 1998/9 they were all coded A on the certificate regardless of bezel color.

That makes sense.
Quoting Springer, the resident expert on GMT’s around here - All GMTs from the 16750, 16760 and early 16710/16700s had the A coding (or A30) within the USA style number found on the warranty paper. |

Well that is actually what might have happened here. I was sold a badly serviced watch, but you would only notice it wasn't winding quite properly by wearing it for a period. Have emailed.

Whoa there - did this need to go to the warnings section so fast? Patrick hasn't responded yet, not necessarily his problem!

On the topic is there anyway to know which particular type (serif/non-serif) bezel came on a watch? |

I have been in touch with Patrick and the situation has been happily resolved. I would buy from him again. I do not think this should be in the warning section.

MODERATOR - PLEASE take this out of the Watchout section. Not fair as my problems were resolved and I would buy again from the seller.

I have bought too many watches from Pat to count over time. If he says it's good well then you can take that to the bank.
It's a beauty! |
