I heard they were going to offer the SkyDweller in a 36mm size.

I hope not. 36mm is a perfect size for such a watch, particularly when the metal is heavy.
Been trying to find a nice 36mm DD in WG for almost two years now. The search continues. |

There are a lot of places in this world where people are smaller than in North America and Europe and some of them just cant wear a 40mm watch. It looks like a child wearing their father's watch.

Panerai just brought out a 38mm model. Looks good too!

The 36mm DJ is the quintessential Rolex. It would be like Harley Davidson stop selling motorcycles. Rolex would sooner change their name to Timex and be manufactured in Texas than discontinue the 36mm DJ.

That watch size and the multi-color bands and dials appears to be aimed at female buyers. I do like that watch size, but I don't think this is a new trend by Panerai to go small. In fact it was not long ago they discontinued the few 40mm models they produced.

Agree that the 40mm DD bezel still looks a little bit off to me. The 41mm was an atrocious eyesore, in my opinion. I have a 36mm DD and I think its about the right size. If I had my druthers, I would make a 38mm DD and call it just about perfect.

Agreed. Looks marketed to the female market.

The sales for the 41mm would have to be amazing and the sales for the 36mm would have to be nearing zero in my opinion.

Datejust will probably move to 37mm and include the 2236 with Syloxi...

That's a really great point. I have two friends locally that have 36mm Rolexes and they never wear them because they are too small. One has a DJ and the other a DD. They are both big guys, so you make a great point about other parts of the world.

I wouldn't say pointless. It's fun to speculate. I read another post where someone said "same old tired predictions every year."
The WIS community is very different than the general public. I don't really like the large watch trend, but 36 is pretty small by modern standards. Again, just having some fun with predictions. |
