I agree.

I could understand wanting to polish if the watch was owned by someone you didn’t know and you wanted to start fresh but In my opinion the scratches and marks make the watch more special since it was your dads.

Myself would want it polished and looking new right away, but since it was passed down I think the scratches give it character.

I'd wait until it needs service.

Give it a nice bath and wear it with pride. If and when it needs a service, you can have it polished then if you chose.

I just don't see how "beat up" this watch is. Looks to be in great condition from the pics shown. Leave it alone and wear it.
