My gold rolex says hi. I suggest going for a modell with bracelet, there is almost nothing like the feel of gold mass on the wrist.

Without knowing more about your personal taste, my choice would be the 619 or 618 LB for me. I’d want an all gold piece including the bracelet. The glidelock bracelet would also be very useful to achieve a better fit, especially with a heavier watch.

Good luck.

I’m in love with the 116654 ym

But I agree it overpriced by about $5000.

Any Daytona on a oysterflex is my style but they are overpriced in my opinion.

But I think my next watch would be PM but I would want a sporty watch.

You need to get the all gold with bracelet to really get the whole gold watch experience.

Love Gold! My GMT II Ceramic! I think it's the best looking full yellow gold Rolex hands down! I'll add... personally I would not spend money on a White Gold Watch. What's the purpose? Looks like a steel watch. You are spending serious coin here.... MAKE IT COUNT! Yellow / Rose Gold or nothing. Nothing like a Yellow Full Gold Rolex.

For your first solid gold piece get a FULL solid gold piece - meaning on bracelet.

Your first solid gold should be entire gold imho

If I was going for the solid gold I would have to start with the iconic Daydate... either 36 or 40mm, but DD for sure...

DD40 would be my #1 choice.
If it must be a sport watch, I would choose an 18K GMT-Master II.

I voted for the WG Daytona, but if the scratches on the bezel will bother you, then the sub is an excellent alternative.

Me personally, I can't even contemplate wearing a gold watch with a rubber bracelet.

228235. Gold and precious metal suits it best. The precious metal models of your list betrays the purposefulness of their intended design.

The Smurf truly rocks as an everyday watch. Hands down, the greatest tool watch ever.

Do you actually use the chronological function of the Daytona? I track my car and I have never once used my watch as a timer. I use a GPS based app, Track Addict to record time , video and ODB II info.

The smurf is the under the radar pick as well. Subtle and slightly understated.

Go for it!

Let me start off by saying that nobody needs a gold watch. That being said, they are awesome.

I think for a first gold Rolex watch you should definitely get the bracelet and not rubber.

My daughters stepfather wears a SMURF. It is beautiful. However, it is not a stainless steel submariner and will show wear much more readily than it does in stainless. But remember, gold is gold colored not white or red. For a first gold watch... just a thought.

Last year I bought a white gold day date 40 and while it was really nice the fact that it’s a yellow metal That has been made white bothered me. White gold is rhodium plated by most watchmakers but Rolex is not. They are white gold is actually gray. That’s why I switched it to the platinum, which is a white metal. The photographs show the difference in tone.

My first gold watch was a Rolex day date 36 mm yellow gold with champagne tapestry dial. About as subtle as a heart attack. It was awesome.

This is my opinion, but the day date is pretty much a sports watch. It’s water resistant to 100 m, shock resistant, antimagnetic and comes in a full bracelet. You never need to take it off your wrist for pretty much anything. That’s about as sporty as it gets.

I've always been a fan of the gold Daytonas, but I've always figured it would never get worn. I live my live perpetually in jeans and T-shitrts, and I feel like it would be out of place.

WG Daytona with the blue dial. Yeah, ceramic bezel is missing but the gold bezel is worth more.

There's no gold Rolex like a Day Date; that would be my choice before anything else. It's from '72 my 1803.

Yes that is a pretty gorgeous watch

I like yellow gold with a strap but worry the “noticeable” nature will restrict where I wear it. I was looking for a daily watch work and leisure

Looking at the posts and others I love the platinum with blue dial but that’s out of reach :(

I think most people are on the side of a gold bracelet. I guess I kind of agree but the Daytona with ceramic bezel is lovely.

My favourites so far are the yellow gold Daytona with green dial, white gold Daytona with blue dial and white gold sub with blue dial

The yellow gold on the sub with the blue dial is too bright for me but funnily enough the black dial looks quite cool. I love the SS GMTs but the GMT bezel fonts in gold are somehow unbalanced IMHO

I don’t use the timer much on my chronograph and do appreciate a date (stops me glancing at my iPhone - although I was thinking of a stainless steel Apple Watch on my other for work - so I don’t miss phone calls without the phone )

However this is primarily a jewellery thing and I have to face it, the Daytona face is just that bit more interesting and unique

If I put my hand up the yellow gold Daytona and green face is just drop dead gorgeous.
The white fold Daytona with a blue face is slightly less gorgeous but more wearable in more situations

I don’t need to rush on this one - it’s a lot of money :)
