I have 8” wrists and firmly believe 40mm to be perfect.

41mm would probably be it. The new Sub tries to make itself look bigger and it ends up looking like a 41mm. Would probably have been better off just being a 41mm.

My Speedy is 42mm and I do wish it was slightly smaller.

I don't own a dress watch but if I did then I would prefer it to be under 40mm (or 40mm max like a Milgauss).

Lug to lug is more important anyway. The size of the watch can vary but I definitely prefer a shorter lug to lug. About 50mm seems to be my limit.

Until recently I'd have said 36 - 38mm but since buying my first Doxa I'd say the dimensions of the SUB 300 are perfect for my wrist size and shape.
I think the main thing is the lug to lug length which has typically been too long for me on larger watches.
Thanks Doxa:)

My Explorer & my OP - 36s I find I'm wearing most nowadays, although I do wear 39 / 40 at weekends (Sub, GMT, LV or Polar II). When I bought my 1st ROLEX 40 was the biggest they made. Only bigger I would consider is if I go for a SkyDweller. I'm just too old skool I'm afraid.

No - I absolutely love it:)
Truth is virtually nothing else is getting any wrist time at the moment.

For my specific wrist size and shape, 42/43mm. 40mm Maxicase works ok, but very much on the small side of what I like to see on my wrist. But I figure that’s very much personal. There is literally no one size fits all answer to this question.

Like many, 36-40mm. Lower end of range for dress watches and higher end of range for sport watches.

I do have small wrists. Photos make watches look too large, because they lack depth perception. In person one can consider how the watch looks in relation to the whole arm. Clothing makes a difference - long sleeves, smaller watch, short sleeves, larger sports watch.

I wear 34mm to 40mm ideally, depending on the case and watch style. Lug to lug length is an important measurement, as well as thickness for consideration of comfort.

I wear a 34mm Omega from the 60s. The watch is mostly dial, so it wears larger. On the other end, I sometimes wear a Seiko Turtle at 44mm; the short lugs, space taken up by case and bezel, make this work.

I like consider comfort when evaluating case.measurements of a watch.

I personally prefer watches on the larger side, 42mm-44mm is my preference, but it's whatever you're most comfortable wearing. For me, 40mm feels a little small, but I understand why it's so popular.

I have a 7.75 - 8 inch wrist used to be 45mm to 47mm. Now I am very happy with 40mm

36mm-40mm

Not that I haven’t worn - or won’t wear watches with larger cases - this is my ideal case size.

Depends on wrist size I think.

Here is 39.5mm and 43mm on my 7 1/4" wrist.

Would not go smaller or bigger than that for me.

Wrist around 7.25". Any 40mm looks right to me regardless of design but smaller or larger it becomes design specific. With many watches (Speedmaster FOIS & Pro for example), the difference between a watch measuring 40mm and 42mm is simply the presence or lack of crown guards. Those two watches really both wear about the same and in fact share bezels and dials.

The "full size" Seamaster measures 41mm but wears no larger than many 39-40mm watches. The black dial, thick bezel and tall case of a Marathon TSAR make it look small on my wrist. The Dornbluth 99.1 white dial has almost no bezel and looks borderline too big on me. Both are 42mm watches on paper.

So, I'll go with 38-42mm depending on design.

for me between around 40 and 43mm. depends on the lug design. still sometimes i love wearing my 35mm which imo looks ridiculously small (but its a vintage).
