lol maybe the 'collector' is a grey market dealer who agreed to let it stay in the display case until he sells it for premium markup. If I'm a grey market dealer buying the hot models from the manager and slipping him a bribe, i would totally offer to leave them in his case as bait. Because then my inventory is protected from theft, for free. I'd probably even offer "if you get a whale who will buy a platinum dd if he gets the Daytona, sell it to him and just give me half of the premium i would have charged. "

I have thought this many times. Why they let the gray market dealers make the profits baffles me. At least let the AD’s that put all the expense in to market and sell the watches get paid. Even if Rolex just rained msrp and left the profit % where it is I would get it. Thing I always ask myself though is how long will these prices hold. $18-$19k for a $9000 SS BLRO???? And the perception of having to lower the prices later when the demand cools off looks bad. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Impressive display window. Would love to know the real reason why they are all there.

Absolutely. If they did two 10% bumps about 13 months apart it would work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Going to Milan next week. I think it's naive to ask, but any SS models available nearby?

I was in Matera in Southern Italy last week and they had a Sub date in the window. I spoke to the AD and they had just received it that morning. The AD was close to where I was staying so I checked in periodically because I was curious how long it would last. It was gone by the next afternoon. I was surprised it lasted that long.
I thought about buying it but I didn't want to deal with getting a VAT refund. |

Such a sad state of affairs when seeing a regular Sub at an AD is that surprising. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's actually a decent retail model. It solves the problem of not being able to try the watch on prior to purchase.
I'd be they're either not sold (as others said) or they're in the ADs private collection who then keeps them in the store for promo purposes. I'd venture to bet they're not sold and for the right buyer they'd be available Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm in the camp believing they are bait to be bundled with a PM piece or just display models with dummy movements. While in Germany, if I had been willing to bundle with a PM, a Daytona was magically available for pick up the next day
I doubt they are sold and just hanging out waiting to be picked up. |
