People get mugged at ATMs.
People get carjacked.
People become victims of crimes for any reason you could imagine.

No need to forego a Rolex out of fear of becoming a victim. Exercise common sense and situational awareness.

wear a long sleeve shirt or sweater and cover the watch when in not-so-safe places. Don't flash it to people you shouldn't be flashing it to and you'll be fine

I don’t work in the insurance industry, and I have no statistics to back me up, but I’m going to wager you are more likely to have your car stolen than your Rolex. Does that stop people from owning cars?

Also, if someone is going to rob you, a $5,000 or $10,000 Omega is just as an attractive target as a $10,000 or $20,000 Rolex

There was another local news someone got shot having a wallet on him. Should I stop carrying a wallet?

In retrospect, I think they were stupid as well. But if we could avoid ad hominem attacks in this thread, that would be nice. Thanks for your understanding.

Go anywhere in the world and you have a chance to run into some dirtbag that sees value in something you have, it the unfortunate reality of human beings. You may not want to get anything but live life and get what you want, just be aware and know your situation. Try a Tudor.
