My mom use to say: There will always be an old flip flop for a tired foot. This is yours, and that's how it was meant to be.

Astonishing history and amazing watch!

Use in good health.

Great story and great watch. When I was entering into the Rolex realm I didn’t know anything about the model hierarchy, or styles, or professional vs classic. Sport vs dressy. Only model I knew was that the submariner and my goal was to eventually have one. But as I looked for “affordable” pre owned purchases to get the real Rolex experience and to get me into the brand, the tuxedo Datejust always caught my eye and I loved it every time I saw an image. I actually almost bought a “Harley Davidson” Datejust which I believe may be the same model with different dial variation

I saw one in Rome in 2007 or 2008. It was black and salmon dial 2 tone rose gold, jubilee bracelet and fluted bezel. I almost pulled the trigger but I was uncertain whether it was a good deal, the exchange rate and how much tax and duty I’ll have to pay when I got back to Canada. It was our last day in Rome and I just didn’t have time to do all the research. Internet wasn’t as easy back then. It was a gorgeous watch I still think about it once in a while.

By the way congratulations to the OP. You did the right thing. You only live once and the fact that very watch was still there for you after all these time has passed only means it’s meant to be yours.

They also made one with a lighter silver outer ring and a darker silver color inner. Plus they had two tone for both models.

My brother just got a pre owned tuxedo and it’s totally stunning in person.
