I love vintage Daytonas, but they are out of reach of my budget.
I like very much modern Daytonas and I´m very happy with mine, received a week ago.
May be a bit overpriced, but n icon watch with lots of tradition, and class!

Just like it......that's all.

For that kind of money, I'd rather buy something else.

The dateless dial and stationary chrono hand would drive me insane.

If I had one, I'd sell it for a watch I actually like.

6 hands on the watch and only 2 of them move when used in the way that 99.99% of the owners use them. Plus no date feature. What a useless watch.

Now, a Tudor chrono, that's another story. Very nice watch.

I agree! I hate that shiny bezel on the new Daytona. Looks cheap, IMO. Vintage Daytonas on the other hand, now that's another story. This is why I like the Tudor chronos (except the 79*80, which has the same "problem") a lot better than the Daytona. Never mind the price. If somebody were to give me one though....

Pictures of your 6263?

You've got to love a Daytona.

Firstly, only the Daytona could spark off such debate, and secondly the majority of the people who 'say' they don't care for them or don't want one are the people that have tried (in vain) to acquire this most fantastic of watches and failed.

Can anybody think of another watch that causes such extreme reactions from people???

I like the SS white dial mainly because of its "RARE" appeal, the TT Daytona wins it for me on many levels, I wan't to add one to the collection one day. The only downside is it seems to be quite unpopular.

The contrasting color rings around the sub dials make the Daytona too garish for me.

If Rolex would make the Daytona look a little more professional, like the Omega Speedmaster, I would like it a lot more.

The ultimate Daytona, and the one I would mortgage my house to own, would look like and have the date/GMT functions of the Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow GMT, without the broad arrow on the hour hand, and with that unmistakable Rolex look that Submariners and GMT Masters have.

And, really, shouldn't the time start and return buttons work underwater?

I have been wearing my vintage Tudor without a date for a few weeks now. As a Science teacher loads of pupils ask me about the date when starting a piece of work and I haven't got a clue!!
Consequently, although the Daytona is a super piece of engineering and looks awesome I am pleased with my GMT and Subs as they do everything I need.

Some of us, such as myself, don't have the discretionary income that would make a Daytona a responsible purchase.

However, if I did have that kind of money for a watch, I wouldn't spend it on a Daytona.

I might put the money in an interest earning account and wait for Rolex to make a version of the Daytona I would like, and, given the variations on the Daytona design I have seen recently, I could imagine Rolex coming up with a dial face I would like (like a Speedmaster Pro).

I would much rather have a Omega Speedmaster, way better value for the $ and a timeless look. If I was going top spend 10 grand it would be on a Blancpain FF, not a chrono that I would never use.

What extreme reactions? Are people not allowed to think anything but the best of Daytonas? I also don't like new Bentleys. Is that wrong too, just because they are great expensive cars? People are different, deal with it!
Acquiring a Daytona is not that hard, they are everywhere, man. Whoever tries to get one WILL get one.

You make some powerful points, except for one IMO. When you say that Daytona's are everywhere and whoever tries to get one will, I don't believe that is the case with the SS model. Not yet. I believe there are still a lot of people waiting on lists for one, and people waiting in the UK won't see one for years.

I really think its a very nice watch, but like the DSSD it doesn't smile to me... so i'd rather have two pre loved Exp / DJ / Sub than a brand new Daytona...
