Great photo. These two look very much alike and if you can't see that, you're in denial over justifying your preference for the Skydweller.
Are they different watches and different size, yes. And to a wis a black Submariner and SD4K have as much difference as an RM and an AP when in reality they are the same watch to the average person.

Owning both isn't a problem and they have sufficient detail and complications to make it a worthwhile pair. But in no way shape or form would I own a Skydweller and DJ in the same metal, bracelet and dial color.

Is that a fair comment, or are they fundamentally different?
At first glance most watches look the same, they all have a round dial and a bezel of some sort.
SkyD has a much more comfortable case and that's why it wears great, even on smaller wrists inspite of its larger size.

Annual calendar combined with a GMT is quite the different look on the dial compared to a DJ.

The Sky-Dweller does somewhat look like a Date Just but so does the DD. It wears completely different and to anyone that knows it is a completely different watch. All are very nice but different.

If you wear your watches for looks, DJ will be just fine. If you wear it for function, you may consider the SkyD
