It’s a gift from your wife. How would you feel if you bought her something and she gave it back? Keep it as it is. Buy a Jubilee bracelet if need be to mix things up.

You can trade it to an AD. I've done it twice. I know you don't need advice on choice, you like what you like. I sure like her taste. I almost bought a silver on oyster but changed my order the next day for the slate roman. Good luck and leave a follow up, just curious on how it works out.

Loving your wonderful wife's choice of your new Rolex would be an easy thing to do.

Enjoy the watch ... and your terrific wife.

Blessings,

Steve

If I purchased a watch for my wife only to find out that she had her heart set on a different model, I would have no qualms with returning it for the one she wanted. In fact I would insist. Because I love her and would want her to love her watch. The particular model would have no bearing outside of that purpose.

Am I missing something? She bought you a great present & both parties are very happy. She has *also* ok'd you to buy *another* DJ with a jubilee bracelet? If you can & want to, buy the second watch!

You’re a lucky man.

My wife doesn’t buy me anything!

Keep it. And wear it. Every time she sees it she’ll feel good about it!

just send it to rsc if you want to change the dial, otherwise order a jubilee bracelet at an AD

also should edit your original post to include this so the entire thread isn't about sentimental comments... lol

my wife gave me a TT Daytona for our wedding then later got me the DJII. Both are untouchable. I don't tend to sell my watches but I have upgraded to newer models but none she has given me. Do the right thing and enjoy the incredible gift she has given you. You can always buy the jubilee bracelet for it.

But the Jubilee bracelet and swap that. Order from an AD and have an independent watchmaker do the swap if you don't want to attempt it yourself. Then you have the original plus the Jubilee you want.

Wear it for a while. See if it's something you like. Later, if you still want that blue dial, take it to your AD for a dial swap. If you're ready to take a loss of $1000 or $1500 selling to get the one you originally wanted, I'm thinking you can do the bracelet and dial swap for about that much if you sell the original bracelet and have an AD do the work.

I’m glad she’s understanding. Instead of another Datejust, look out for a Submariner! Datejust and Submariner would make a great pair.

If the wife is cool with making the change to the watch, I would trade the watch and get the exact configuration you want. I wouldn’t change the dial and bracelet on the one your wife bought.

Just get what you want and be transparent about it. Where did she get it? If It's practically unworn, which it sounds like it is, odds are the seller will take it back for full credit if you get your replacement from them. Done and done. I'm sure she'd be much happier if you got exactly what you wanted and I'm sure you'd want her to do the same if you bought one for her.

In 2014 my wife gave me a IWC that was nice but I was not really crazy about it. She realized nice try but insisted I do a switch. I ended up making a change which in fact was a new GMT II BLNR. Very happy I made the switch and Ann feels like she got me the BLNR. We lived on happily ever after. Win Win.

I know you said she's onboard but she could also just be saying that to support you and the thought of swapping it could truthfully bother her. Nah, that would never happen
