TBH, I bought a Daytona more for looks than chrono functionality. The chrono is fun to play with, but subdials are hard to read, unless you are in direct sun or are 25 years old.

I do chuckle at all the folks who talk about the awesome usefulness of the GMT. Maybe it's living in the Central time zone here in the U.S., but I travel a decent amount and have never had a problem remembering "We're in NY. Chicago is an hour behind." Or even, "We're in Switzerland. We're [xxx] hours ahead of Chicago." Maybe it's just my mad math skillz.

Without a doubt, Daytona for me!

I've had two BLNRs in the past. I prefer my Pepsi 1675 over the new Batman.
Yes, the Batman is gorgeous, but I prefer the patina on my 1675 to give it more character.

I had a Daytona in the past and just absolutely gushed over it whenever I wore it. So, I contacted my AD and told him I really wanted to get a black face Daytona again. I will have it this month some time.

The priorities for me are :

Do you need a date?

How is your vision?

Do you prefer a larger watch?

I’m a big Daytona fan, and as a one and only, I’d have a very difficult time choosing. For me I’d probably choose the GMT...in this particular case, because of these particular configurations.
If the choice were between my 116506 and 126710 Pepsi ....and someone said you can only have one....I’d keep the 116506. Very much personal preference, and two great models!

what you use the chrono for?

As an only watch, definitely GMT, date complication >> than chrono.

The Daytona is still a beautiful watch and would love as a second watch in collection.

I find that the new GMT is very different than the original LN though.

I have to agree. Daytona has the worst legibility, sub dial wise, of any chronograph I have ever seen. I cannot use the chrono function. The new SS Ceramic are improved over the previous model but still very hard to read. Strange the TT and PM models have many dials which are fairly legible.

It’s such a testament to Rolex that this question is even being posed. Amazing that they’ve moved the GMT upmarket to compare with the Daytona.

For me, this would be the Daytona 10 times out of 10

Your definition of versatile is strictly relating to fashion. Practically speaking, the GMT wins in every way.

GMT would be more useful for me.

Daytona would make more financial sense if you want to wear for a short while and get rid of it.

GMT would be for me, Daytona would be for the wife. I’d really need both

I have both watches here. If it’s a one and only, then GMT. It’s got a practical function that you will use more (time zones and date). It’s also quite a bit cheaper than the Daytona.
I love my Daytona, but it is a must have for a collection, just not independently.

Pictures!
