Both are cool watches and keepers in their own right. It would come down to what I liked and what I was willing to spend. You can get a slightly pre-owned Speed Master on a bracelet for between $3500-4000, depending on the model. The DJ for almost twice that money. For me it is about options and on these two watches it would be the Omega on a bracelet with some funds spent on a few leather straps and NATO's. Going outside the box of what you ask I would look at a Polar Explorer II, 42 mm. Great watch and the white dial would give you a very different look. These watches have ticked up in price but can still be had for somewhat of a deal compared to some other models from Rolex. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

The phallic 12 o’clock reference is impossible to unsee. Just can’t take the moon watch serious with that.

They are both great. If you want another black dial I’d probably buy the Speedmaster and be done with it. The DJ provides some dial color variations, the rhodium, blue, silver would all be great choices to compliment the sub.

Between the two you suggested, I'd buy a DJ. I'm not you so buy whatever sings the loudest to YOU!

I'm going to set aside all of the comments on the new soon-to-be Speedy "Ed White" and suggest that there are several other Speedmaster variations to pick from, most of which can be obtained new, gray market for a substantial discount from MSRP. Sure, it may drop in value from what you pay, most everything that doesn't have a crown on it does, but it's a solid watch that will compliment anyone's collection. It also (IMHO) looks great on a variety of bracelets, straps or natos.
Such as the one that I bought in October. It's referred to as the Sapphire Sandwich, since both the front and rear (display back) are, you guessed it, sapphire. I don't like plastic.

I'd go with the Speedmaster for diversity. Dive watch plus chronograph.
