Lots of love for PM. Once you get it your wrist and forget about the price, you're "golden".

LOL
How could he not buy it used? It is a 5 digit 16618 which has been out of production for more than a decade!

No love? In what way?

When you use "hovering" around 18k as an indicator for future desirability, that's what all watches do...they hover in a certain price range for a while and then they go up-or down- based on current market trends, FOMO, discontinuation...you get the idea.

Lately the trend has been everything going up. Will that continue for the 5 digit PM models? That's anybody's guess. For a reference point, the 6 digit PM's 'hovered' around 20k for quite some time...and you can look and see for yourself where they're hovering now.

I think you answered your own question. Once a watch is available in steel, then the material and the price appeals to more buyers. That's the difference with a Day date. Only offered in PM. Used to be that Date Just could be had in PM, now only in steel or rolesor TT.

Tremendously awesome watch.

I feel like the PM subs ok general have been getting a lot more attention in the last 6 months. Rightly so! It’s an awesome piece.

That would be amazing! And likely priced upwards of $80k.

I wear my 116619LB every day and don’t want to imagine life without it.

There’s lot of love for them here, just a smaller audience due to price of entry.

And I don’t know where this $18k number is coming from? Unless it’s really old or something, the cheapest used ones I see are around $25-27k, unless is crap condition. New this is upper mid 30’s now. I bought mine new a few years ago and it was like $35k then. Not sure the retail now.

I think people here love the PM Subs, so long as they are fans of the Sub. That said they less attainable than SS, so probably Occam's Razor

A yellow gold sub is the best deal pm piece out there.

OP is referencing the 5 digit 16618 YG Sub which has been out of production for a decade+. And even these are fetching around 20K for ones that are in acceptable condition. Personally it is much better to spend the extra 6K and get a used 116618 modern iteration.

My 116618 LN is my favorite watch. It’s not for everyone, but if you can carry it off, a gold Submariner makes a bold statement. And it can handle and activity you throw at it.

I would go after the 6-digit PM, too. In fact I did, but 2 of them are incognito. I very much prefer PM to SS, but not everyone feels that way. Some like a lighter weight, or have other preferences.

Love them.
