I spent zilch in my AD and got a SkyD blue dial. It’s all about the relationship and pot luck

This aspect of the hobby is my guilty pleasure to observe. It's astonsihing to see so many grown men clamouring over artificially scarce time-pieces, to the extent they are conversing about tactics on how to win an 'AD' over, in order to move up 'The List' haha.

It’s ridiculous that you may have to purchase something you may not really want just to suck up to an AD.

I’d agree with most of the posts here (well into six figures) unless the AD thinks you can be opportunistic (being a lot of other watch business and/or friends to the AD).

So you got 6 hard or semi hard to get references out of 7 from 2 ADs. Most people here will consider you very lucky. Rootbeer, Air King, SD43, Sub date, Pepsi, and Polar explorer plus a TT DJ for your wife, which you actually wanted for your anniversary, and didn't buy as a compromise. Well done and nicely played . Hope you get your Daytona soon.

In the UK, I've bought 2 SS watches Sport models from my local AD. Didn't have to wait long since as both those were purchased in the past 7 months.

I am going to ask to be on the wait list for the Daytona when they re-open and I am sure they will oblige. I know even though I have a great relationship with them - it might be many years before I would ever get one considering there must be many people in front of me spending a heck of a lot more.

That’s just how it goes in most cases

Agreed.

This thread is almost embarrassing to read. Starting to get put off the Rolex brand because of this nonsense
