I'm happy for you. Now, stop using that winder and just wear the thing!

Thank you for sharing your experience. A couple of questions:

- why did you settle on Dallas RSC vs. others around the country?

- how much was the overhaul? And what was wrong with the watch?

When you get it back, I would not put it on a winder. No need. Takes a few seconds to set.

Just got my Submariner 14060M back from Phillip Ridley at Ridley Watchmakers. Took about 10 days, his communication was excellent, very happy with his service.

When I gently shake the watch, I hear what I would describe as a mechanical unwinding sound (mainspring?). The watch functions okay otherwise, winding, setting and running. It just does not work on the winder anymore and there’s the unwinding sound, obviously, related.

Given that Dallas RSC has partially opened back up, does the TRF brain trust think I should send it in for service? Just want to make sure if I opt to not send it in now, I don’t damage it. Thanks in advance for your thoughts. Regards, TB
Glad you liked the RSC service wish you had before and after photos. Just to help everyone who wants to send their watch in for service, what did they offer to repair and to replace, and to polish as part of the service?

My understanding is that the RSC’s job is to bring the watch to factory specs and condition. If you don’t want to polish or just want to service the movement, you should take it to an independent. Can anyone confirm this?

Polish is a cost option you can refuse at RSC. Been my experience.

Two reasons for Dallas RSC. 1. I had only ever read positives reviews on them. 2. At that time, late May, NYC RSC was shut down. Dallas RSC had opened back up at reduced capacity.

Full service was $750. They also replaced the bezel insert which was $40.

I explained the issue Leading me to get service in Post #1.

Initial recommendation was for a Full Service and replacement of the bezel insert which was scratched. I believe that polish is part of the Full Service and not offered separately if doing a Full Service.

For what it’s worth, I can confirm from my standpoint that the watch looks new. So perhaps that is in fact their focus to bring to factory specs and condition. If so, mission accomplished!

I dont like watch winders. I'll say they are as bad as leaving your watch on a drawer for years. I either wear my watches in rotation or give then a winding once a month for those not in regular rotation...

I am glad to hear about your positive experience. I am contemplating sending my GMT to Dallas for service. Thanks for sharing.

At the risk of redundancy send to RSC Dallas. I have used them for over thirty years to service all my Rolexes.

My pleasure. Their customer service personnel were top notch. As an example, they would follow up with a phone call about an hour after they sent an email to make sure you got the email and if there were any questions. Not many businesses due that today. Outstanding!

Delighted that your watch came back looking as new, I had a similar experience not with a Rolex but my 10 year old Seamaster diver went to Omega service centre here in the UK at the end of last year on the advice of my OB. I got a new watch back, the service was great, the polish was great, no issues what so ever.

Firmly convinced that servicing via the official service centre is the way to go. Others may disagree.
