Choice of submariner

This will be my First rolex so I really want to make sure it's the best choice.. any pros and cons either way?

Try and get a discount for the bluesy which is in stock! And since you said you love both of them. Hulk at double the MSRP is too much premium! It may retain it’s value down the line inspite of the premium though, if it gets discontinued as the rumour goes. But I wouldn’t pay that much premium. About 3 years back, I got a Black sub date with a discount from an AD. The batman was available at retail and the bluesy with bigger discount. Didn’t go for either as wanted more subtle and something that’ll go with everything, so avoided bluesy as it might not go with black suits etc. and was also a bit too expensive for my first rolex/lux watch. Though maybe I should have gone for the batman.. even though love my sub and would never wanna sell it. So am happy. But that time even the GMT bezel looked little busy compared to sub, which was far more subtle and perfect for a first lux watch. But the bluesy is absolutely on my radar now! Would love to get it someday. And even the Hulk, and the Batman or Pepsi.. if it’s available at retail and new from the AD! Lol

I really like the HULK, but I don't think I can bring myself to wear it regularly. I much rather prefer the LN, which some people can get mugged for also.

Paying over retail for a mass produced watch means...

I have a Hulk and it’s sweet but it’s not 100% premium sweet. I’m not huge on TT watches but YMMV. I recommend a 114060 instead of either that you mentioned. It’s incredibly versatile and super comfortable. It’s one of the best looking modern watches made.

The Hulk will be $20k plus tax
While the bluesy is regular retail of $16,600 plus tax
(Cdn dollars)
I bought the bluesy in Vancouver last year and love the watch, I'd highly recommend it over a hulk especially at a lower price.

Update... Found one for much cheaper hoping I can check his references to complete the deal. With all the Conversions to CDN will be 1.4 over retail for the HULK..See how it goes!

Think about how much having your own name on the Warranty Card means to you. For me, that is something special as opposed to wearing a watch previously owned by a complete stranger.

Be vary careful, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Gray dealers are offering to buy hulks for more than that so this throws up some red flags for me. I hope you score a deal though.

For me the sub is always black. The others are novelties. It’s like the speedy, there are 200 versions, but the real deal is the hesilite standard moonwatch. If you already have the black, I would go two tone. That kelly pastel green is really not appealing to me.

If you have to pay a premium for a watch, then remove that item from your wish list.
Never pay over msrp for a watch. To boot it is a mass produced item.

I'll admit I'm biased as I love my Bluesy but I would never pay double MSRP for anything. If you really want the Hulk, then I suggest waiting until prices come down or you can get on an ADs list who would be willing to sell it to you at MSRP (or less).

I would decide which one you like more and then figure out how to get it for a price you are comfortable paying. When spending >$10k i would never want to “settle”.

I think someone mentioned this but, if you buy bluesy at retail, get put on the list for hulk at the AD, you may end up with both for around the price you're considering for just the HULK. Just be very genuine about it when discussing getting put on the list. They may bump you up faster if they realize you have no intention of flipping!

I got a SubC after a week of waiting with no purchase history!

A green watch, am sorry but they have no appeal to me. Now a TT blue sub or Bluesy that is one mighty attractive and classy watch.
Go for the Bluesy and I doubt you will regret it.
But hey you decide which you like best.

Bluesy is much easier to get at MSRP. Heck one time I phoned an AD couple of times and they offered me a Bluesy.

HULK from what I understand is harder than Daytona these days.

Im not a major fan of the bluesy but its works for some people. The hulk I would dare buy at pass MSRP price. Its your first watch so whichever you like best if you get a chance to try on both see what looks best

Reading this post and responses it seems like the OP may want the LV over the bluesy, but is concerned about paying over msrp.

If that’s true, my advice is buy the watch you want. It will be cheaper long term
