Proportion-wise I think the Kermit is the nicest sub ever made. The combination of a 5 digit sized case with maxi dial is gorgeous. So if you like green, it would be the kermit every time for me. I don’t mind the older bracelets. I actually like the lighter weight bracelets. They are quite comfortable.

Get a Kermit and put a 97200 bracelet on it for the best of both worlds.

I had one of the first Kermits from the AD I did some work for around 2004. I grew to not like it that much, sold it to fund my JC DSSD in 2015. I missed the amazing increase in pricing which would have helped future watch funding but I like my Sea Dweller much better.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but the Kermit is one watch that you need the papers at least. Otherwise, it could have been born with a black bezel?

Feedback Please - Kermit or Hulk

Questions on validating a 16610LV.

For non-credit card, warranty certificate paper (e.g., Z Serial circa 2007), would the upper-right corner of the certificate list out the “16610LV/ZXXXXXX”?

If so, would the papers also need to be punched?

Example 1: Punch Papers with no LV reference

Example 2: Non-Punched with LV reference

Kermit for me. Only old style case with maxi dial and gold surrounds. Hulk is hype, plus super case is yuck.

Thanks for those who reached out and provided feedback and intel on this. I am of sufficient understanding on this item due to the same.

Ultimately, I’ve decided on the Kermit. Hope to have an incoming to share within next week or so!

The dial (maxi markers) and (thicker) hands are different on the LV. I understand the need for papers but for an owner of an LN to source the dial, hands, and bezel insert and convert it would bring it close to the price of an LV anyway so not sure many people are doing that. As always, buy the seller.
In my opinion the Kermit is a pretty special piece for those that appreciate Rolex. It is a very nice transition between 5 and 6 digit subs.
I personally don’t like the color of the bezel of the Hulk. The dial is very cool but the green on green does not look good to me. I remember seeing these in the window and my SA and I would comment that Rolex missed the mark on this one. Now we are laughing at how we were the ones that missed the mark and should have bought 10 of these.
OP looking forward to seeing photos!

for people owning one of them, they are going to vote for the one they own. for people owning both they will find they are equally amazing. i own both and i don’t think you can go wrong with either one. just find the one that is in the best condition and go with it, whether it’s LV or LVc.

OP, you own a six digit and a five digit already ... do you have a preference?

To me it would be mostly about wearability and the aesthetic on my wrist between the two. I can see your conundrum

I don’t want either, but appreciate both. If I had to choose, it’d be hulk based on ceramic, glidelock, and sunburst dial.

Ha! Thank you. As mentioned, I have a love for both the 5 and 6-digit references. For example, the former for it’s “neo-vintage” appeal with slimmer case profile, drilled lug holes, and aluminum insert. I appreciate the latter 6-digit for the superior bracelet, chromalight lume, and ceramic bezel. The 6-digit also feels every bit of its price tag.

Ultimately, I went with the Kermit as a hybrid between the 5 and 6-digit with its maxi dial. It also felt special being an anniversary edition, albeit not the actual 50th Anniversary year model (Y-Serial with Fat Four) that came out in 2003. I also liked the touch of green that gives the Kermit a bit of an understated appearance relative to the Hulk.

I was truly torn. Originally preferred the Kermit, became infatuated with the Hulk, but ultimately, at the 11th Hour, decided on the Kermit.

Sentimentally speaking. Kermit

Feedback Please - Kermit or Hulk

Well after owning 5 and six digit models I prefer the bracelet and the maxi case. However I like the look of a maxi dial on the 5 digit models and something about how a older Subs “break in” are amazing. Another huge plus of the Kermit is the fact you can put a black bezel on it for 2 watches in one and it looks great like thatIf only a single watch I’d probably go with the 5 digit model. I love the hulk though. As with all models prices are stupid IMHO. One of my biggest regrets with buying and selling watches was in 2008 when I graduated college and got a Rolex for a graduation gift. I had waited 7 months for my DSSD after it was released that year at Basel. My parents have a great relationship with our AD and I could’ve had a brand new Kermit for $5000 out the door tax included but just didn’t like it then. He told me he thought it might gain in value and popularity over the DSSD but I wasn’t picking the watch with investment or future value in mind but man I wish I picked the Kermit. I wore the DSSD every day from 07-12 until I picked up a SubC and it maybe gets worn 5x a year at most. I don’t think I’ve taken it out of the safe or even looked at it since last summer actually. It means a lot to me so I won’t sell it but really dont like it anymore compared to my other models. The Hulk is probably my next SS Rolex but my heart is set on a yellow gold SubC blue dial as my next Rolex as I think the PM value is actually ok compared to how ridiculous the SS models have become.

Thinking about being able to buy that watch for $5k is a punch in the gut nowadays but that’s how it goes. Almost as bad as when my parents sold our old lake house about 20 years ago and included my grandfathers 1940’s wooden Chris Craft boat with the sale. The new owners had the boat restored for about $40k and sold it a few years ago for almost $200k after paying $275k for everything. On top of that lake property prices have increased 2-3 fold since then as well. Hindsight is always 20/20 but we would all be multimillionaires if we could tell the future.
