I own the TT Bluesy and the hulk (so i arguably own the louder spectrum of subs) ... and to be completely honest I have never had anyone comment or converse with me about my watches outside of my group of friends who enjoy watches ... But I live in India and in my experience people don't ask about that stuff over here

I think this is spot on.

Those that are saying no one notices, how do you know? Just because no one comments doesn't mean they didn't notice it.

The Sub is such an iconic watch, it would be hard not to notice it, even for the general public with limited watch knowledge.

I personally notice alot of Rolexes on my commute to work, I however, choose not to comment on it, doesn't mean I didn't notice it.

I wear a sub date every day.
I run a charter fishing boat, about 150 trips a year with 6-15 passengers per trip.
Twice in the two years that I have had the watch has anyone commented on it.

No one notices and no one cares. The average guy on the street wouldn't know a Timex from a Sub.

I think it depends on where you live and frequent and what watch it is. I was in my local municipality’s permitting office a week or so ago and noticed a guys as sub with date. I was going to comment but was in conversation when he left. I was wearing my bluesy and he didn’t comment nor has any other stranger. I’ve had a few comments but they’ve all been from people that know me. I wear mine daily.

99% of the people you see won't know if your wearing a sub, aquanaut or a movado.

Even when you notice someone else's watch, they will wonder what you are looking at.

There are not many of us in the world that care.

I guess the thing you should ask is ... Do you notice the sub when it's on someone else's wrist ... and if so would you go and talk to him about the watch / compliment him on the watch ... In my experience unless you happen to have a chance conversation with the person ... Its going to go without a compliment

999 out of 1000 people will not notice. The ones that do are either into watches or interested in your money.

People will notice a sub like a yellow cab in NY.......
All / 100% of the yellow cabs are original......
Over 50% of the sub's are fake, so people who know a little about Rolex doubt whether your sub is fake or not......

If you can afford, purchase a YM II.......of several Rolexes I have (a.o. a 1978 GMT 1675 cpl original and 1st owner) the YM II gains the most attention and remarkably positive remarks.......
The YM II is distinguishing from all the common Rolex models people are after in one endless row.
The YM II obviously is a watch that triggers emotions...undoubtedly..
The Daytona in it's early introduction days did meet similar adverse reactions as the YM II these days.....history repeats itself
The 116680 YM II is unique in every aspect...........and ahead of it's time..

The YM II has a unique caliber, it is a highly accomplished self-winding chronograph movement entirely developed in house.....Rolex spend 35,000 hours developing the Caliber 4161, which contains 360 individual components. It also includes their blue parachrom hairspring (constructed from a special alloy containing niobium and zirconium) that offers incredible durability against shocks and magnetic forces.exclusively made for this watch.
There is no other manufacturer producing a comparable caliber.

Perfect watch for the 4th of July (oops! I just noticed you're not in the US...) I tried this one once and it looks amazing in person but it didn't work for me as much as I wanted it to.

I’ve never had anyone say anything about my sub and I wear it practically 24/hrs a day everyday. One time I received a comment about my Explorer 1 while walking into a gym from a person also wearing an Explorer.

I wouldn’t go so far to say it’s never noticed though. Im always looking at wrists to see if someone has an interesting watch. Lots of Tags in my area. So I would assume others are at least looking occasionally.

3 weeks ago my Orthopedic Surgeon (wearing a Bluesy) pointed at my hulk and made a big deal about it complaining he can't get one. Said he's been trying to get one along with a James Cameron. I went in today for a follow up wearing my Daytona. He stopped what he was saying, looked at my watch and actually said Meh with the face that goes with it. He said, "I'm a diver guy not a watch guy". Was fun for me but this was the first time my Sub or any watch has been noticed in the 2 years i've had it. I wouldn't say no one cares but almost no one cares for sure.

On a side note he did say he needed to buy his wife a 40K Cartier bracelet. I told him now was his chance to get the Hulk. Find a dealer that sells Cartier and Rolex and ask them to package the two. He said because of the advice he would give me a Cortizone shot vs sharpening his Scalpel.

A few comments and I've certainly seen people staring at it. I think it's just an honest curiosity on some peoples parts. Most people have heard of Rolex and the Submariner is the probably the most well known Rolex, if not the most well known expensive/famous watch among non-watch people.

Just for example a good friend of mine has looked at it quite a bit and finally one day asked if it was a Rolex. I replied it was and she asked if she could see it. She held it, commented it was heavy, felt and looked like it was very well made, and asked if it was expensive. I said it was but it was also now worth about 25-30% more than I paid for it. So maybe not that expensive. We ended up chatting about it, and Rolex for a bit. I think she was one of those people who had always heard of Rolex but never handled one and was curious what all the fuss was about.

Only when flying first class. Encounter a lot of like minded watch guys cooped up in a steel tube with nothing better to do.

I get lots of compliments on dive boats when wearing my Seiko orange monster though

Only a true watch fan. Otherwise It’s no more noticed than a base model Seiko.

It is definitely noticed much more frequently than it is commented on. Do you comment on every Rolex you see?

But who really cares? It makes me happy. That’s really all that matters.

Out of all my watches the Sub gets notice a lot more. I think it because it is the most iconic Rolex model. I don't wear my Sub in business meetings. It does get noticed!!!

Most comments I got was on my JC Deepsea blue, but it’s a bit bigger and really stands out.

No one has ever said anything about any of my other watches.

Do people notice your Sub?

I have a 114060. Love it.

I don’t think people really notice. If they do notice, they don’t say anything.

Watch certainly guys notice, but we’re a small minority.

Does it matter?

I had one person say something when I was in Afghanistan with my Sub. Outside of that, not a one. Interestingly enough, my Big Pilot 5002 gets the most comments of anything I own.

Had my 114060 DLC'd and customized (I know not to the taste of everyone here) but it is now invisible to all but WIS. Love it. I never have to worry about where I wear it.
