For me, of all my watches, I still the Tudor GMT does the best job. The green lume glows, the uncluttered dial is easy to see, I don't have trouble telling which hand is which thanks to the big snowflake hour hand, and my old eyes never need to squint to read the time..

Give me some of your picks!

I would’ve totally agreed with you up until the other night. I was on a mid night shift and on a break I took my GMT off and put it on its side with the face visable. After a power nap took a look at the watch in the dark and had no idea what time it was at first glance and not because I just woke up. A few of the hands looked mighty similar..... IMO I feel like my 16710 was much easier to read at first glance.

My Seiko Samurai has the best lume when charged and seems to last fairly well. My Marathon watch with the tritium tubes does well several hours into the night.

Hmmm I'm surprised to hear this. I've had great luck with the GMT as a night stand watch. I really like that the GMT hand is only lumed at the very end so it's hard to confuse with the hour and minute hands which are lumed completely.

Agreed I think I just happened to catch it at the wrong time. No pun intended like maybe the minute hand over and index plot or something. Could be it’s a new watch and haven’t gotten used to it just yet. Or I’m just an idiot which is most likely

I always check out your Ball pictures. I may pull the trigger and pick one of these up.

Any idea how long it takes for the tubes to wear out?

My sub date is easy to read all night. I read it every morning when the sun is still down.

My Seiko Sumo and Samurai, and by a considerable margin. That said, they are competing with a 13 year old 16570.

The Lineup:

First up a 6 second exposure in a dark room after having all 3 watches below the same lights.

The same exposure shot, 3 hours later.

The results after 3 hours.

Seiko MM300 was the brightest.
Ploprof was second.
SD4k was 3rd.

I still have an easier time reading the Omega. Likely because of the big lume bezel.

My Submariner is pretty good after spending a lot of time outside. If I sit around inside the house all day, it’s not so good.
