That watch does not belong on a hideously hairy wrist.

Quick Google of Mirka's watches says otherwise.

his wife has multiple gem set rolexes - emerald bezel pave dial day date and rainbow yachtmaster are just 2 to name

Mrs Federer’s pave day date emerald bezel is incredible. Probably my favorite day date ever

A rarely seen GMT

Take the diamonds off the lugs, crown guard and bracelet, and it is a really nice looking watch. Not for me, but beautiful.

With the extra bling, it looks like an aftermarket disgrace.

Opinions are good. The market prices for such watches says otherwise. Others do this too like RM chronos or chrystal sapphire diamond Hublots and APs, it’s jewelry really.
At this level buyers aren’t specifically looking for a tool that marks time, it’s not about functionality and I think it’s silly to argue the point or expect it. A pave dial Submariner/Daytona with a jeweled bezel isn’t really a chronograph anymore, it’s a piece of jewelry designed “like” a chronograph. It’s not a watch an astronaut, Warren Buffet or Spock would buy, that’s not logical. But it is the watch Justin Bieber, Mark Wahlberg and Beyoncé would buy for Jay-Z and that’s not opinion but facts.

Well based on reality and facts your statement is easily proved false. RF gets free watches from Rolex, he’s sponsored so he essentially wears for promotion but his wife well, as Maury Povich would say, the google detector determined that was a lie.
Trying to delegitimize a purchase decision based on what some other rich guy does is a hopeless venture. Let’s not get on our high horse and be the beacon of taste and decision making because one would chose to wear a Rolex OP, because then you’d have someone like Bill Gates laugh at you for even that. Better to just say, that’s not for me, I prefer other things.

Priorities in life can be swayed by a multitude of factors but for most it’s like the image below. I can humorously relate…

Buying a Rolex like this is like buying a Toyota Corolla and fitting solid gold accessories.

You can do it, but why?

A mid priced brand blinged out to the maximum

The only people in the market for this would be drug dealers, asian triad gangsters and anyone who thinks flairs, an open chest silk shirt and a gold medallion is fashionable.

(oh wait, that used to be me in the 1970's )

My god, what a way to take an icon, make it almost non-functional and, yet there will be a buyer.

Ridiculous stereotypical post and I don’t think you know anything about gem setting. It’s not at all like throwing gold accessories on a Corolla.

A great example of a 'just because you can doesn't mean that you should' IMHO.

Neat to see a real picture of it though. Thanks for sharing!

I mean ok, I don’t even think a Daytona would be the Corolla but, it’s not that serious. People have opposing opinions. It’s all subjective, the watch sells so there’s no shortage of buyers. Every Rolex sells today so there’s something for everyone.

I think someone on TZ tried that on this week too at the same AD.

Very weird to see an off catalogue model in the window of an AD. They must be fuming with whoever got them to order it in without even a deposit.
