I tried on a buddy’s SD and for me it was just too thick. I have 7” wrist. It’s very nice for a collection but just very bulky. I think the explorer would feel less bulky and less big. Especially in black dial variant.

If you decide against the SD43 and your ad has it in stock. Shoot me a pm, because I’ll happily take it!

Thanks everyone. Here’s some images of me trying on. I should have mentioned - I have a Pepsi, Sub41LV. I think most of your suggestions are correct. Might be too big from both :(

SD43 has more wrist presence but probably better for someone with a 7" wrist or larger.

Overall, the size of the SD43 seems to overtake my wrist more than the Black Explorer 2. |

Great watches but might be too large for your wrist. I would look else where or maybe a vintage Explorer II in 40mm.

Based on your wrist size -the Explorer II would be more ideal. Also, consider your activities - do you need the depth requirements or they GMT hand?

I disagree with both being too large. I think they look fine on your wrist. But, you are wearing them and you need to decide.

Both look great and you can’t go wrong with either. Personally, I have no problem or discomfort with prolonged wearing of the SD43 on my 6.5” wrist.
The red line on the SD43 will bring a smile every time you look at it. Still, your gf will never understand why you bought 3 of the same watch to go with the LV and Pepsi, lol. But whenever you wear it, you will feel 50% tougher. Though ny experience is with the 16570 Polar explorer, it may be relevant. Polar brings nice variety with a white dial to your collection. Whenever you wear it, you will feel 25% tougher. Also, your gf will comment once that it’s nice, then on another occasion will borrow it to wear if it matches her outfit. Great choices. |

I have a polar Exp II and a 6.75” wrist, the watch is comfortable and versatile. I love the orange on the 24-hour hand and the dial and that is frankly one of the reasons why I bought it. I have often imagined buying a black Exp II as a safe-mate for the polar but then again I have also often imagined winning the lottery. I do not wear red and consequently I profoundly dislike the red lettering on the SD43 dial. This is why I’m imagining buying the Deep Sea after my lottery dream comes true.

Exp II. I'm on the AD waitlist and chose it over the sub.
ExpII flys under the radar and new version with AR coating, full white gold hands and deep black lacquered dial really makes it a "daily wear" piece. Plus 2nd time zone is more important (and practical) for me rather than a dive bezel. I've owned plethora of Seiko/Omega divers over the years and never used the bezel. GMT is a really useful feature as u know the 2nd timezone in a simple glance. And ExpII wears very comfortably. I tried the exhibition piece in Las Vegas boutique and I'd bought it right on the spot if they had it in stock (wishful thinking..lol). Note online images/camera photos always add in magnification so it's not a real judge. |

Given what you already own why not go with the new Explorer 1? That’s something different and always classy for any wrist size. That’s on my list at least to complement my Sea Dweller 16600.

So 43 and explorer II
I have both. The SD 43 a incredible and I love it but the Exp II is far more comfortable. In all honesty the most comfortable is the Pepsi on a jubilee but out of these two,for a daily wearer I have to go Exp II even if my heart loves the sheer brute of the Dweller. All great choices.

IMHO, both are too big although the SD looks way too big. That said, this is totally subjective and that's just my opinion. For reference, have you tried on a Sub?
Edit-I see you note you do have a Sub. Can you give us a wrist pic of that to compare? Edit-Edit--if you really want wrist presence, have you looked at the SD4K? |

I think they both look great and neither look too big. My wrist is a similar size and I’m hoping to get the SD next. I was a bit worried about the size after reading comments on here but when trying on the watch it feels perfect. I’ve recently bought an Omega Seamaster at 42mm which feels great whilst the 41mm Seamaster 300 I was initially going for felt too big for me.
