Help me choose a Chronograph to wait for my Daytona

I like both honestly.. defy with the gold on skeleton does it for me... moonwatch sedna is a classic and beaut.... Maybe take a day to go to a place that has both in stock and decide from there.

Where I live there is no Zenith AD

Hard to make the call without wearing one of the two watches!

To the OP, nice topic. I'm actually in between those choices as well, but the non-PM versions. I like my Daytona but feel like variety is always good. Also interesting to see so many votes for the VC, I didn't like how it sat on wrist so I didn't go through. I need to go find a Zenith AD to try on. So far comfort and fit wise it's a 50/50 Omega and Daytona.

The VC clearly has a fan base, but it is way too expensive compared to the good deals I can get for the options posted.

Between those two I would go for the Speedmaster,:- I like Zenith generally, the El Primero is a solid movement, but I'm not a fan of the skeleton dial.

Were it me, I would also check out the Breguet XXI in Rose gold, it's around $13K preowned, 42mm, great movement and rather handsome:



I went with the Blancpain fifty fathoms in RG, I find for a 45mm, it wears on the smaller side:

I think the Zenith is too big when compared to a Daytona and a Moonwatch. I was looking at it online and really like the concept of the Defy but when I saw it in person I found it to be a much bigger watch.

I have actually considered the Breguet, I like it but I feel it looks a little bit old-fashioned for my taste.

It's frequently been pointed out to me, mostly by my kids, that I am quite an old man now....

The Breguet is def "classical" in looks, it was something never on my radar until a colleague got one of the new steel 3817 models a while ago. Now I'm besotted...

I actually started watching some type XXI videos and its growing on me. Love the solid gold caseback and the thickness and finish of the case.

Parmigiani Tonda GT Chrono would be my recommendation. Fairly difficult to obtain as everyone has now discovered this watch is a real quality sleeper but one in stock in London right now on Chrono24.

I have this same fifty fathoms. It is a great watch, definitely one of the most beautiful watches I have owned.

as a chrono collector I think this is an option you should really consider. Nothing scratches a daytona itch if that's all you want. In saying that if you genuinely want the other chronos then that's fine also.

I actually think Breitling's premier series is very attractive. Especially the 42 Duograph, that one stands out, rose gold model looks sharp on strap.




Very robust, they've got decent water resistance (100m), great heritage in the chronograph space. Just a tad too thick, seems to be the trend for most chronographs.

I'd also say ALS has some very beautiful chronographs.

I have the itch but I don't want to join the grey market madness. For my budget (30.000 usd max right now), I can only buy grey two tone or maybe a panda.

Seems really stupid compared to the great watches from other brands I can afford.

I love the Zenith, love the Speedy and now loving the Type XXII flyback!

Hopefully I can pull the trigger this week.

(communication with some dealers @ chrono24 is so damn slow!!)

Another vote for the Breguet where steel is the real deal. These have such a history and purpose to them.

OK - whilst there is SOME similarity, personally I wouldn't have chosen the Overseas as the comparator. The guilloche is fairly unique to PF.

(NEW OPTION, not a chrono though) Vacheron Traditionelle self winding 41mm pink gold (43075/000R-9737)

please leave your input. Hoping I can pull the trigger next week.

How about a 116520. They seem quite stable. Then sell that once your allocation for a 116500 comes in.
Nothing other than a daytona will satisfy you if you want a daytona.

I know it's more expensive but the Cornes de Vache is a fantastic piece to consider, especially if you're looking into VC.
