Going Day Date. Awesome watch that looks great. Never cared too much for the Nautilus line.

tough call between the white dial Nautilus and DD40 Platinum, but I would choose DD over the Nautilus, any day.

PP now ahead. Interesting since the DD was head early and even on the PP forum there was def favoring of the Day Date. I still lean Day Date but was amazed that in a venue like I was in that there were SO many Nsutiluses but very few Rolex with no Day Dates. I guess that’s the view of the .01% today as opposed to 30 yrs ago when the Day Date really was ubiquitous. Maybe that’s a good thing.

I have both and they very well could be the last two in the collection if I were to consolidate down that far (although I really would want to add in a 16570 for good measure!)…

The platinum DD (36mm in my case) and a SS Nautilus wear so differently and evoke such a different feeling on the wrist.

I've also owned both. I sold the DD, but still have the 5712.

The Nautilus is a weird watch which looks terrible off the wrist, but fantastic on. IMO.

If you had to choose just one which would you pick, Stephen?

For me I love the shape, it's just my style to a tee for some reason, more so than a typical round watch like a Rolex or a RO, and the quirky offbeat layout of the 12 just works for me again, it's not a conventional watch at all in fact but it does it for me of all the SS Nauts and Aquas.

I’d take my DD40 plat over my 5990 in steel any day of the week. Platinum just hits different, iykyk

Sophie’s choice. I didn’t answer in my first response, and won’t here either. I don’t want to offend either of my watches!

Tough call, really. Not sure…

Now if there was a 5712 in platinum that would be great! Wearing platinum is just different.

This. Plus, the expense of a SS time and date watch — Patek or not — when compared with the similar cost of a complicated platinum piece strikes me as ridiculous.

Nautilus or Platinum Day Date?

No brainer for me, DD all the way.
Never understood the PP hype anyway.

Nautilus if you combine the two is starting to pull ahead. I am actually going back to the same place that triggered my question tonight. Not sure what I’ll wear but leaning to what’s been my daily. The DD. If I go PP at least the white 5726 is a bit diff.

Vote 5712 - platinum is nice but if this were my money I'd get the PP

I own all of them…it’s just a question of which really makes the best all round daily.

I went back to the same place that drove me to ask the question that started this thread last night. It was a diff crowd where it were less watches in general and def more of a Rolex compliment. Before I went I narrowed my choice to either the 5726 or the DD40 and I really decided that regardless of the world’s infatuation with the Nautilus I really love my DayDate and just love wearing it. I am sure at some point I will switch and give my PP’s more wrist time but I chose the Rolex where even though there were many on view last night there were none like mine so it’s still something out of the norm. Besides, this whole new water resistant thing with PP really annoys me so I am more ina Rolex mood right now.
