A gold Sea-Dweller would do well I think. The Deep-Sea is hard enough to wear for an average sized wrist in stainless steel as it is.

Don’t get me wrong - I love heavy gold watches. I have also bought and sold Deep-Sea watches 3 times in my life because I just can’t handle them. Beautiful engineering and gorgeous watch, just too big and bulky for me.

The blue is rather nice.
I suspect Rolex will reserve that for PM DSSDs if they're going to be true to form.
They might consider the D-blue sufficient as being the exclusive option for SS

Having handled one (a friend who is also here has one), it’s quite something. I’d actually like to see a few of the design and technical elements trickle down - so even if it’s dumb as a mass-market offering, it will serve to keep the other products fresh and innovative in years to come.

The brushed titanium is nearly the visual match to SS - definitely would like to see it offered on some sports models. The chamfers are also amazing. Who doesn’t love Rolexes with chamfered lugs???

Interesting to read the polarising opinions here about this watch.

It's not for me, I'm not really a gold watch guy but it's too big for me either way.

I can understand why some would love it though, if you're a 6ft 8 American football player with arms like Arnie then it's going to look like a serious piece of kit.

Big fan! I can definitely see owning one. I currently have seven Rolex and over a dozen other watches, and my Deepsea gets worn the most. Why not get a gold one!
I love all of the comments of blasphemy from the peanut gallery, many of whom surely had a 47mm Panerai or 50mm Hublot on their wishlist 15 years ago!

It’s a giant F-you watch but from what I have seen it’s extremely well executed. You would have to have the ego the size of a small planet to wear and pull this off but some do and will. The blue bezel next to the yellow gold looks striking to say the least. As others have said they did it because they can!

I think that is very temporary. I would expect it to come down to retail quickly.

It's a fun watch for fun people. You know the guy wearing this will buy a round of drinks and spin a good tale.

I bet it is a super pretty piece.. but man, it has got to be soooo freaking heavy. I owned the WG Sub and it was literally half a pound. Heavier than a DayDate past my tolerance.

A Deepsea is half a pound (7.6 ozs). Yeah it’s heavy but it’s got so much surface area on the wrist that the weight is well distributed. I’m not spooked by the weight, I just don’t have the balls to wear that much blue and gold.

Have not seen one yet, although a gold dive watch is overkill in my opinion and it would bother me to damage it on a dive. But to each his own…. If you have it to burn? Why not?

Wearing myself a DSSD D-blue now, I like this new reference in gold, but without the blue colour. Too blue for me. Not sure what other colour could potentially replace the blue. But I love Deepsea references!!
