A one only ever daily wear Rolex:

The Submariner.

Gives you a sporty and classy, timeless look without being boring like the Explorer I. Also provides a timing function, and date if you go with date version. You also get the robustness of a dive watch with all it's great specs.

Hard to go wrong with a Datejust. Sporty-dressy, or dressy-sporty depending on bezel. A lot of members are saying the Sub or GMT but I wouldn't wear those in a more formal setting, but I would a Datejust. From the office to the beach and on the weekends too, hard to beat the Datejust as a daily wear.

Anything in steel without a fluted bezel

My sub has been on my wrist for nearly 4 weeks and 1 person has noticed it

Surprised noone mentioned a 42mm Polar ExplorerII for a daily. Rolex last true "tool" watch. Although for me would be my beloved BLRO.

Buy the one YOU like and enjoy it. Too many damn opinions here as we're all somewhat warped.

What would you suggest as the best Rolex to do so ?

I already checked some of them (DJ36/41, AK and YM40) but it's quite a hard choice!
I insist that I only want (and can...) buy only one :)

Thanks!
Pick the one you like best.

Your choice is the only one that matters.

+1 on the Explorer I based on what you described. Your choice of 36 or 40 (39 still IMO is the best).

For me it would be an Explorer or a Submariner no date, the sub is definitely next on my shopping list.
Plus at least in the UK there seems to be very little waiting for an Explorer. It Took 21 days from expressing an interest in a Explorer 40mm to receiving the call.

Any Professional Stainless Steel model. I bought a 126610LV Sub as my only Rolex which I wear daily. No issues, a strong well thought out watch.

Good luck and don't forget to tell us your decision and why. Then wait or go Grey.

Depends how flash you want your everday watch to be. I've moved my daily around this last couple of years.

It was my Submariner, then it became an early 2000's explorer, now I've settled on a Tudor BB54.

Still have my other nice watches, just don't daily a Rolex anymore.

That's precisely the one I cannot get off my wrist. It has pushed away the other watches in my collection.

It is precise, fun, rugged, well-made, with personality, yet not as immediately recognisable as more popular Rolex models.

Oh, thanks everyone for your opinion!
I wasn't expecting so many answers. I read a bit of everything but it seems mainly Sub, GMT.
Personally, I don't really like the Sub: "everyone" has one and it's too "simple".

To be honest, I like a lot the YM40 with the rhodium dial but I'm afraid of scratches on the bezel. It seems yours is quite fine. Do you wear it everyday ?

A lot of people say this but I guess that's why we have variety. We can't all like the same thing. It's the simplicity and symmetry that draws me to it. My AD tells me they get very few of these every year.I am yet to see anyone in my neck of the woods wearing one.

I can't imagine where they are all going.....

Thank you, and I agree.

I keep going back to this one as it could be a one and only.

I like what James Cameron said about his Submariner … just speaks to it’s versatility

From your given choice, DJ36/41. Classic, timeless, and most recognizable reference.

Three excellent options, and of those 3, I’d choose the Explorer. Let us know what you choose, and welcome to the forum.

The Explorer 1 is NOT boring. This guy just doesn’t get it. Anyone who owns one, or wants one, does. It is one of the coolest models in the entire catalogue.
