I think going grey for 5167r is better option than 5167a. R version is much nicer but I have one so I’m biased.

Only you can talk yourself into buying it or not.

If the thought of losing money over it will cause you to not enjoy the watch, then don't buy it.

If the joy of having the watch outweighs the mental and financial stress, then I'd say go for what your heart wants.

Don't do it. Spend the money on a complicated PP in PM instead. You can buy a used 5140 or 5320 for that price. It is a no brainer to me.

I had one before the hype in 2017 when you could get them gray for a discount in mint condition. Let that sink in. I sold it into an appreciating market, given how, frankly, flimsy it felt and sounded when the rotor spun to wind the watch.

As a starter, I would look at 6119-R Calatrava, a classic piece that trades slightly below MSRP.

Traded a 5164A (bought at retail in 2018) + cash for a 5164G two weeks ago. If you really want a 5164A, go for it. It's a great watch and useful. I wore the 5164A extensively when traveling and I never had any problems with it.

I wear an 5167a all summer long with jeans and a t-shirt. Is it overhyped and overpriced? Depends who you ask. For me, the 5167a fills a role in my rotation that nothing else can do, and I very much enjoy owning one.

There is a reason why it is so popular. Never completely understood it until I recently got my 5167R. The thin profile on the rubber strap is magical and truly not much else out there like it.

Just placed my 5167a back into rotation today after a brief hiatus. And this post is spot on. Love it or hate it, there’s nothing like it!

Personally believe the 5167a is unique.

The lume (before white colour change) is outstanding.

The finish, the comfort, the dial..

So slim and light on the wrist

I have tried so many other watches to see if I could match it.

I wish it wasn't 50k as I feel uneasy wearing it.

As for the watch, the 5167 is super comfortable and highly legible. I own a 5167R now and love it.

Agree with the statements above..^^^..

The only thing that I will add to this comment is that the 5167 is a strap monster.....

Cheers,

Fullset, good condition on bracelet 2010 went for 42k at auction on MODA. Only a matter of time before new ones are in that range.

Good condition yes. It was far from excellent/mint condition. They’ve been going for low 40s for “decent” examples for a while now. The new ones unworn are staying steady mid 50s

I love my 5167a. I traded watches I didn't wear as often towards it also. It was a few years ago, so it was over retail, but nothing like what it got up to. I never really cared what the value continued to be, as I wasn't looking to sell. It's one of my favorite watches.

Are these still impossible to get at an AD for new customers? When I was at an AD recently, they seemed fine with taking a name for interest and did not act the same as if asking for Daytona. Never mentioned or implied bundling, etc. Did not make it seem as if it was a moonshot.
