For me it is the Submariner ND, 124060. Perfect design and fit and a beautiful well balanced dial.

For a daily, I want time, date, water resistance, GMT function, bracelet - preferably fully brushed and nothing too shiny or eye catching.

Explorer II - black dial… (Or maybe a 16710 if not picking from current lineup.)

The most versatile Rolex ever produced, the 16710.

BLNR for a host of reasons.
Color, comfort, sporty, elegant, tough, and versatility.

Sub, date or no date. I prefer to go sans date…perfect symmetry.

Sub date.

This is the only serious answer.

GMT2 on jubilee, ceramic bezel. Can be dressed up, dressed down, swim/snorkel (and most likely recreationally dive), play any sport in, bezel will not scratch and will always look new, 40mm perfect size, relatively rare in the wild, date/gmt function extremely useful, hour set time - no need to mess with seconds when changing time.

For sure a classic, but every other private high school graduate has one in USA. At least where I live. Had one, sold it once gmt arrived.

Sub Date, you could dress it up or down without looking out of place.

Thanks for all the replies! Interesting to hear people’s perspectives,

I think I am leaning on keeping my batgirl as my one and done then!

I had a sub date several times previously in different guises - bluesy, Starbucks, black steel, but with the black sub as much as it’s a great watch and super comfy I think I sold it both times due to it being a bit too plain and fairly common out and about.

I do still love the panda 116 but maybe that’s because it’s so hyped in the watch community, that’s partly why I got the Starbucks at the time as it was so hyped and almost double the price of a black sub on grey market at its peak, but after owning a couple of months it was gone, it was a watch that looked cool on instagram to me before I owned it but after owning it wasn’t me.

Any fellow BLNR owners here who just like the colour scheme and don’t actually use the GMT function?

I have been down this path, thought it was the sub date. It is the BLNR on jubilee. It is like a sub + the blue datejust in one.

For me "one only"

Soooo comfortable: light, brushed finish, no sharp edges, no huge crown, multiple use Bezels!

I also found the black sub boring after a while. I never expected to say that when I was lusting after it the prior 9 months. All the things that made me interested in it - versatile, timeless, goes with everything didn't end up working in real life.

I guess I like watches with more color and dimension. I now have the BLNR and love the sizing and the numerals which I thought were "too much" at the AD are my favorite. It keeps the watch fresh and unique.

I use the GMT function mostly to teach my kids about time zones "what time is in Tokyo" rather than a professional purpose as I travel domestically. I have been using it for coworkers or family who are overseas to know when to text / call them.

Yup…I even use the GMT bezel as a timing bezel as I would on a Sub. I found the GMT to offer the most options in one watch.

The watch that extinguished all desire to buy more Rolex watches is this one...it could easily be a "one and done" for me!

If I HAD to be a one watch guy, it would be my GMT Master BLNR.

You can never go wrong with a Sub, though. I personally prefer the No Date, but any sub would be a great watch.

GMT as it's so functional but I'd also include an Explorer as it's discreet.

Back around 1993 I wanted a 16600 but I knew it wasn't in my budget.
One day after closing the sale of a small business I started I had a little cash and stopped by the well known pawnshop in Detroit. I looked at Subs but had no interest as everyone in my area had one and I said I wouldn't buy a diver till I could afford the SD.
I ended up buying this 17013 (just back from RSC Dallas). I will never sell it as it was my first but I rarely ever wear it as it just feels so light even compared to the 14270 I just got a couple weeks ago.

Depends on your lifestyle really.

Need something more dressy - Datejust Fluted on Jubilee
More sporty/travel - GMT BLNR
Mix of everything - Submariner Date

If you are talking the ultimate it has to be the daydate platinum.

Other than that the white gold gmt and subs are up there
