Seiko solar powered quartz movement chronograph. It's clearly Daytona inspired, but packs a lot of innovative technology for less than US$700.

I think it's pretty lame to buy watches that look like other watches. It's part of the reason I love brands like Sinn that have their own totally unique design DNA. IE the U1/U50 do not look like anything else on market.

Interesting. The Submariner is the Google of divers. There might have been other search engines that came out around the same time, but Google is the one that mattered most. Same thing with the Submariner. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

[QUOTE=texan_guy;13353926]How do brands like Timex and Invicta get away with making watches that look almost exactly like a Rolex? Are there no patents? I understand non-brand name imitators, no different than fake designer clothes, but these are known brands.
Its the same style of watch, but I would not say it looks "exactly like a Rolex" not even 20 feet away from those pictures |

My Bulova “Submariner” homage watch from the early 60s. Bracelet got away in the 60s and I have no idea what it’s supposed to look like!? I had not heard of Rolex for another 10 years after receiving this as a birthday gift from my father.

Imitators
I've liked the homages done by CW, one to BP and one to Rolex. The FF homage is bronze; I'm letting it patinate.
