No; I'd look silly wearing anything that's colored gold. White gold or platinum, maybe, but SS is a harder material that won't ding as easily as PMs. I retired in 2003 after wearing suits and ties for most of my career, and now stick to t-shirts, Levis, and sandals or topsiders. I have one remaining navy blue suit for wearing at weddings and funerals.

For me no. Each has there place when I want to wear them. I enjoy wearing my BLNR just as much as wearing my DD YG.

How about a SS Sport model Rolex ruined my appreciation for the precious metal Rolexes!

Not for me, I just don't care for PM in watches. Titanium, okay that makes sense sometimes.

Gold and platinum are (strictly for my tastes) incidental at best and a complete deal-breaker at worst (I DEEPLY angered an AD years ago when they tried to sell me a tu-tone GMT by laughing and saying 'Oh come on, I thought you guys knew me.' and that was before the 'craze') - PM just isn't for me on watches, and usually actively bothers me.

I was always after a SS Panda Daytona. Then I purchased a RG Sundust dial Daytona on OF from my AD and my desire for the SS Daytona disappeared. I no longer feel the need for a SS Daytona.

I still like my TT and SS watches. There are times when they are much more appropriate to wear. But my next two purchases I am looking at will be PM watches. As others have said, there is just something about them that tickles my fancy more now than SS does.

No, I enjoy the watch irrespective of what it is made from, I'll wear SS or TT with jeans and a T, I'll wear SS/TT or PM with a suit and tie, just depends on what I fancy wearing that day.

No. I recently got my first PM watch, and I love it. It certainly has not diluted my taste for my other S/S pieces. They're all my children. ;-)

No reason why you can't have both in a collection. I do.

Honestly, yes, I would have a very hard time going back to SS or TT. But I do appreciate them on other people.

Agree with this! I started out with only stainless as it was all that I could afford at the time. then I upgraded to a PM watch, and I wanted nothing to do with stainless.

Over time I still prefer PM, but I have a newfound appreciation of stainless when I got a Skydweller recently. I guess that's sort of cheating since it's a heavier stainless model but still love it all the same.

Having a collection mixed with SS, TT, PM, and have no problem wearing any and all of them.

So my answer is no.

If not for sentimental reasons to all my SS pieces I’d say, BEGONE, VILE MAN! BEGONE FROM ME!

I have a preference for my gold watch over my stainless steel ones, although I do wear the latter as well. There is a certain allure and distinctiveness associated with a rare and valuable metal watch that captivates my attention.

Gold subs and all TT watches irk me, and I've owned both.
I only wear SS now.

Not at all.
PM watches do have a special feel but I don't appreciate them any more than SS and still wear SS far more often.

I like them all and have found over time and ownership, have owned all types of metal from Rolex, I prefer white metals and my SS collection touches all the right bases for me. I could not make that statement 10 years ago but times and tastes change.

Yellow gold is king, after you wear a PM YG watch, steel feels like tin.
