But isn’t that the same for most if not all Rolex models?
Think as far back as the Submariner. A submariner is a member of a submarine crew, not a particular reference to individual diving. Blancpain got there possibly first with the dive watch, & also did a better job of naming it with 50 Fathoms. Makes much more sense.

I like it a lot. I will probably try to grab one from my AD at some point.

To be honest, I hesitated, I was almost about to sell both of my OQs. That's where "it" comes in, and that is why now I like them more now than before. Mostly because I happen to like ORIGINAL and RARE beauties more then the "common" ones.
By the way, I think this was the first time in watch history that a manufacturer started to fake their own quartz watch with an automatic movement "imitation". So I still wonder what the hell happened at Rolex headquarters if this was their "best" design idea in decades? They threw out the Cellini line and then took an even bigger step back? What is next? The resurrection of Everest, or some 30s design? A "cuckoo clock" watch would be strong, but if they keep going like this, they will invite the sundial. But at least it would be funny. So it will surely not happen. |

I like pretty much everything about it except the dial (honeycomb ). I guess I’ll have to wait.

I don't dislike the watch but there are so many other watches I would want before ever considering the LD.

I like the Land Dweller and think it’s going to be a hot item for several years through the AD, but if I’m going to spend around $17K at my AD for a hard to obtain piece, I’d rather get a titanium Yachtmaster.

Beautiful watch, but not for me in general, and a bit overpriced. I think Rolex just wanted to start a new battle with AP, VC, and PP.

I’d rather buy an old OQ day date for around the same money or hopefully there will be better dials in the future

For those ok with two-tone, these 1630s can be had for ~$7k US, which I think is a relative steal.

The look is not what I want my Rolex to be. I may be too set in my ways of how I see my Rolex watches.
Would a collection with a AP in it own one is the question??

I personally would love to own this watch. It will be tough to get at first but then it should be easy to get as I think a dress watch alternative to the DJ will have limited appeal to collectors who overwhelmingly prefer the sports lines.

Would be interested when some new dial options come. Would like to see a baton only dial with some other colours.
Be interesting to see where this stands in the “waitlist” tier! |

Not for me. I have always disliked from any manufacturer a lack of distinct lugs and the bracelet continuing from the case without shoulders. That movement will find its way into the rest of the Rolex line eventually and based on what I’ve seen I don’t need another Rolex, so no I don’t feel any desire for one.

I like it overall but I dislike the dial in the photos. Would need to see it in the metal. I suspect that Rolex will come out with other dial options in the future. I also suspect this movement to trickle down to other models.

I’m interested to seeing how it looks on my wrist. The dial is busy but works somehow, at least in photos. Will be interesting if Rolex also adds leather or rubber option. They seem to be late to the table but maybe they catch up with it all with this model.

I initially thought the name was a joke. Truly awful.
Movement cool. Hidden clasp cool. Clear case back cool. Otherwise IMHO a weirded-out DJ/OQ combo with a design from 1982. Then again, Rolex could serve up s%$t on a cracker and people will line up. Easy no for me. |

![]() It is no coincidence that they are rare, because if I remember correctly, a total of 1500 of them were made. It is a strange twist of fate that if we consider that there were quite a few OQ variations, but only ~30,000 OQs were made in total, then it is possible that there are OQ versions of which fewer were made. By the way, none of the OQ models were successful in their time. So it is a "totally great idea" to resurrect this model. A new "Cellini era" has begun. ![]() |
