Awesome price list. Now if I can only find an AD in the USA that will sell me a watch instead of walking them out the back doors.

I'm flying to Frankfurt tomorrow, wearing my BLRO. I will be in Austria and Switzerland too and would pounce on anything good I come across. But I'm not holding my breath.

Well, unfortunately nothing to pounce on here in Switzerland. "For display only" pieces at AD's. Still very long waiting times for the wanted references (

Hello, I've been trying to sort out the price of a new Bleusy. I live in Canada but will be travelling to the USA a bit over the next little while so would like to know MSRP on this if anyone can help.

I wasn't confused, maybe you are with all those ridiculous nicknames ... Regarding 116613lb , it's part of my chart on 1st page in this post. It's just not up to date with the last price increase dated June,1st. All TT models increased around 3.5% in all countries. I'll update the whole chart soon. New actual price for Canada is now 20800 ca$ , for USA its now 16150us$ |

My wife's actually from Argentina, and we visit pretty often. From what we've seen, the AD situation in Argentina is... interesting, to say the least. Most pieces that come in are already spoken for before they even hit the showcases, and they only display them as exhibition pieces. Here's a personal anecdote: Last time we visited, my wife's uncle (who's buddies with an AD owner) set up a meeting for us. Even with that connection, everything on display already had a buyer, and we'd need to wait till the next shipment would arrive to consider something to purchase.
There used to be a VAT refund program for tourists, but as far as I know, it's been suspended. So, unfortunately, there's no tax advantage to buying there anymore. My advice? If you're set on buying in Argentina, leverage any connections you have – it's almost essential there. But honestly, unless you're living there or have a specific reason, you're probably better off purchasing elsewhere. Buenos Aires is a beautiful city to discover on foot, so try your luck whenever you spot an AD regardless, you just never know. |

Nice find at Amsterdam Schiphol airport - 124060 at duty-free price
I have been flying through Schiphol periodically for years and when I have some time to kill make it a point to browse the Rolex store in the main shopping hub, which is run by local Rolex AD Gassan. While any watches on display are the less-demanded ref. and even then always behind For Exhibition Only tags, they have been telling me they do receive a small number of watches for sale every month, including some professional models. Yesterday I was browsing and the staff (very welcoming and professional) asked me if there was something in particular I was looking for. I explained I have been thinking for some time about a No date Sub, and discussed briefly why I liked that particular model (the descendant of the original Submariner, seeing it on James Bond's wrist when I was a kid, etc.) They asked what time was my flight, and if I could wait 10 minutes because they might have a watch for me. I left the store for a few minutes and when I came back a No date Sub had magically appeared from out of a safe in the back. They asked whether I wanted to buy it and I did, paying a duty-free price of approx. EUR 7,700. The Netherlands retail price is EUR 9,100. In USD terms I saved $1,000+ over U.S. list price, but of course that's assuming you can walk into an AD and walk out 15 minutes later with a Rolex professional model easy peasy as I did. Needless to say, I was over the moon! I think being specific and informed about what I was looking for helped. I see many travellers walking into airport Rolex stores, and when they are asked about what they are looking for, they respond generically like: Any SS professional model. Or, whatever Daytona you can give me. I don't think that sort of answer gets you far with the AD staff.
I guess the moral of the story is: sometimes you can be at the right place at the right time, and it is worth being polite and thoughtful and checking out airport AD locations, even if most of the time they look more like a giant brand advertisment rather than a place that actually sells watches . You never know! |
