I was checking this thread to see if I had ever posted my 1680 on it, and I had, back in 2015. Since that time, I quit wearing it for a time, as it needed thorough servicing. I had that performed by Philip and Bob Ridley in 2019, and it looked so pristine that I locked it away so as not to spoil it. Recently, I’ve brought it out in the light again and wear it daily, taking care not to roughhouse it. I am the original owner, having received it as a gift for my high school graduation in 1974. It was my daily wear everywhere until I set it aside for servicing in 2015. It’s a Mark II dial, serial 2.229xxx. Originally it was fit with a standard Oyster bracelet which I replaced with a 93150 back in 1981. I also have a newer serial 1680 Red which belonged to my father. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks for bringing it back out! What a great story behind the watch and your dad's. If you graduated in 1974, how cool that you ended up with an earlier MF Mark2 dial. Did you keep your original box and papers with the watch?

Did that spend a lot of time in a dark corner? When I got my red sub, it had lume almost exactly that color. After 6 months of daily wear in the south Texas sun, the lume was shades lighter. Beautiful watch! Mine comes back from AZ tomorrow. Mine’s a 2.95, I’ll post it (again) in this thread so you can see how light the lume is now. I think my first post of it was around Nov of 2014.

Yes, it had been stored for some time. I expect it will be bleached a bit here in the Australian sun too, but not too much. I love the patina on it

And here it is, back from a trip to Mr. Ridley in AZ. It was long overdue for a service, and luckily I found a spare NOS T19 in my parts stash.
