We're an island, remember! And if we don't have sand, I guess we kind of import it and "make a beach" where we want:

Thanks for your kind words.

It is my favorite Calatrava as well.
In pictures, I was drawn to others like 5119, etc but in flesh, 5127 fit on my wrist best.

Yes. Guilty on all counts - 5165 is so nice in today's sun light.

Very nice Bendy, your friend sure has great tastes! I love his 3970 but I must ask, what is the reference number of the diamond one on the left? I'm guessing it has the same movement as your 5970 but I'm pretty sure it's a different model given the markers and the bezel.

the reference is 5971p - looks very nice in the metal but we were both impressed with the clean look of the 5970p

Exhausted from working - I think it's been more than 30 hrs!
But still had time to snap a pic for the patek lovers...

... I was using a Canon Rebel T1i DSLR and even then I had to find a good spot by my office window where the afternoon light was just soft enough and there weren't as much buildings around NYC that would be reflected by the dial's crystal!

You look like you held your camera phone with a steady hand and snapped an incredibly excellent pic... all the time!

EB thanks for showing us the photo of that small little gem (pun intended) at the 6 o'clock position.

We don't see it very often & a question that has gone around in my mind for a while, is do they have to re position either the diamond or the pusher on the case?

By the way, I very much prefer the "plain" 5970 over the 5971

The diamond is center - to the left I believe is the pusher for setting the moonphases (I think) - was this what you were asking??

I am very biased - but my friend also loved the clean look of the 5970 vs the 5971...

... at all of these beautiful works of art.
Hopefully someday a Calatrava can be around my wrist, maybe even that gorgeous 5170.
