The protection that I use can only be seen very close up, and cannot be seen from a foot away. The pic below is after a year being on the wrist.

I do the same using xpel ppf; very easy and almost invisible.

Scratches nicks and dents are part of usage. I think protective films completely ruin the hobby and I would never recommend them to anybody.
