True (sigh) but at least half was made here ....i dont like turbo engines or in a hotter than hell place like the Houston area stuck in traffic for hours creates more heat. I like the Dodge v-6 3.6 its been around a long time, 295 hp is peppy even for a hog like my jeep...my younger brother just lost his job after 17 years in engineering dept at dodge. Like he says its a crime what has happened pushing fiats like its US made. I (we) get a huge discount on their line up.....my GC cost just 28k new.....my brother says if you buy another car which i hope and pray never happens again, go Toyota. He is trying to get a job with them now but not crazy over moving to CA.

I had no problems with my Audi A5. But that's a different topic for a different website.

I am glad you put him in his place, OP. Schoolyard bully he was.

Its like BMW, its a love hate thing....I bought a used 1990 325i 4 door from a friend as a favor to her so she could get out of a bad marriage. Only non Chrysler made auto i ever bought.....it had auto trans but ran like a top to 125k miles at which i sold it because the trans was going out. The inline 6 was a miles .....great engine....it was white with blue int
I know a couple who bought an "a3" Audi from the stealerdealer in the woodlands and stopped on them going home and could not get it started.
All with less than 25 miles on it.....i like the a3 looks which is the perfect size for getting around town....i just cant get over the price for a little engine. I just dont like turbo anything....plus all the new elec/small engine combo either.

The A3 is mighty tiny, good runabout car. I had an A5 with the turbo 4 and it was a great vehicle with which I had zero problems in three years. We all have our lived experiences! I had a Subaru transmission crap out on me once when the car had under 1000 miles on it. The problems aren't limited to German cars ...

In any event I'm a BMW guy now. Just traded in the A5 last month for an X3 M40i -- with that same inline six. That engine purrrrrs.

My A4 and now A5 have been the most reliable best running cars I've ever owned.

I liked everything about my A5 except (1) the ridiculously stupid location of the cupholders and (2) the lack of inside storage. Otherwise I couldn't find anything to complain about.

Rolex bashing-hate

I don’t really follow.

Rolex gets more praise than hate.

I walk to the parking lot and he is parked about 3 cars from me....I'm in my 2021 Jeep GC....I could not help myself ....I told him "I see you fell for the Audi hype...." I don't want to ruffle Audi owners feathers but I would never buy one....my family comes from U.S. auto workers.....mostly MOPAR...dad retired after 32 years in 84.
He gives me a shocked look....I told him yeah I'm old but I would bet I'm a better car tinkerer than you...my dad taught me since I was 5..... he drove off without a word.
Back to the question why the Rolex hate?
Just a lonely man grasping at relevance. Enjoy your great timepiece.

Rolex is technically a for-profit company, but it's owned by the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation, a private family trust and charitable organization recognized by the Swiss government. Because of this, Rolex donates a large portion of its profits to charity and other social issues, and some people consider it a non-profit company. This is only one reason I like Rolex. Also Tudor and Omega, there are other brands I really like also, just use your search engine and ask what are the 10 best watches in the world for most of them.

Tell him it was a gift (mine was).. that's if you even want to engage him. I think I would just ignore, I have become very skilled at ignoring dbags as I get older.

Imagine if this was a anniversary gift from your wife and your wife was right there, or worse, a watch you inherited from your father after he passed. Of course, the shallowness and ego of this person is the most shocking part of this.

The Audi comeback was a nice comeback though. :)

I absolutely love people who feel that their opinions and views of the world are so important that they have the need and obligation to share them with strangers.

Maybe he is ashamed of himself because he does not have this rolex, there are so many such people, I will never care about other people's eyes. As I said, before I didn't own datejust, I carried him and always had one or two friends say: Where did you buy your fake rolex, it's really nice. I laughed it off, I don't need to quarrel with people I don't have, of course, I also envy you can fight back now, all in all, well done

Read into that what you will.
Back to the OP, your best move would have been to ignore and move on, not drag yourself down to their level.

He just wanted to brag. You’d better ignore these individuals. There’s ton of them, even here in the AP section of the forum.

Somehow having been chosen to over pay (AP price increases over time are ludicrous) for what is a good but not practical design, makes many people think they are better.

I’ve had issues with my Royal Oak, and people felt personally attacked when I simply narrated what had occurred. I even had the maître horloger tell me it was a production issue, and a very close friend who works at AP HQ tell me about the QA’s department issues.

Yet it was met with scoffing and puffing, because AP is perfect and can not falter.

Anyhow I digress.
