I had a checkerboard-design LV wallet (about $250) that disintegrated in a year. I liked the look but, unimpressive quality.

Now I've had my Epi LV wallet for a few years. Totally worth the money, stands up to abuse/overstuffing, and gains nice patina over time. LV makes good stuff but IMHO you have to skip over the monogrammed/checkerboard stuff to get the worthwhile stuff.

Never had any LV stuff so I cant comment on them other than I know they have history and are good quality. I can comment on the "oriental" thing tho. My mom is full "oriental" and are many of her friends. I guess they are walking steroeotypes as they own nail salons and are draped in LV, they also drive terribly. LOL, I know it is better to comment in a PC nature about subjects but sometimes things just are what they are. Your mileage may vary.

I hate lv I had the leather wallet and recently bought a damier wallet... Guess what it sucks because I use them and pack my wallet. It's starting to tear I think it's over priced,

Being Occidental myself I don't understand why Oriental is racist. I definitely think it is a dated word but......
Anyway have never given LV a thought. Just not into I guess

To those who regard LV as feminine or feels that LV is marketed towards them...
or have issues with their quality...

May I recommend Saddleback leather for you...

OP: I don't mean to hijack your thread or have any ill intent. Just sharing with those who can't have LV singing to them...

Just to clear this up a bit, I think I can try to answer as an Occidental who has lived in the far east for more than a quarter century. Oriental as a word is fine (as in the Mandarin Oriental chain of fine hotels, or one of the more famous Rolex ADs, the Oriental Watch Co. Ltd, for example). However, referring to folks from this part of the world as "Orientals" tends to be perceived as demeaning, if not racist. I hope we can leave it at that, and let the thread continue.

The damier canvas, you mean? I've been using the same LV damier wallet for the past 7 or so years and it has held up really well. I wouldn't be surprised if I could get another 7 years out of it.

If your LV wallet doesn't keep top quality even after a year you should visit a LV-store and they will fix it, 100%. Unfortunately there is a lot of fakes spinning around out there so make shure that you buy your products at LV:s.

Yes; I tend to overstuff/abuse my wallets, though.

Well, I showed my ratty checkerboard wallet to the salesperson at an LV store and she told me it was common for those wallets to degrade when overstuffed. No offer to fix it or anything...she simply upsold me an all-black leather one that she said could handle abuse much better. And, to be honest, I'm 100% satisfied with this one.

That was exactly my experience with the "damier canvas" style. I have nothing but praise for my "Epi," though.

I've got an LV carry on in charcoal damier. Best thing is the personalised tag.

Rolex VS Louis Vuitton

i just doing get shots like that. they are a bit vain. its not about saying what goes together but just trying to show off - LV is hardly a brand to invest into ( as opposed to say hermes or chanel)...

but love the daytona - always.

On our recent holiday my wife bought her one and only LV bag $960. Personally I don't get it. But she doesn't get why I need more than one watch.

We both like quality items that's why we work.

As are Rolexes in SG.

I'm still trying to find "the Orient" on a map...I thought they made watches?? People that live in watches like LV?

This "Oriental" prefers LVc and Montblanc.

Guess which one has seen 20+ years of daily use?

Rolex VS Louis Vuitton

My wife is after her first LV bag. She had a closet full if Dooney and the good Coach stuff.
I about threw up in my mouth when I saw the prices at the LV store in Chicago. Guess I am glad my jeans and cowboy boots prompted the salespeople to not wait on us. I would be $2500 poorer.

I personally don't get it. As mentioned earlier Saddleback leather goods are as good as it gets for briefcases and belts if that is your style, which it is mine. I think that for men LV is a little feminine. But will admit I know very little if their line and only what I saw while my wife shopped for a purse.

nothin feminine about the mens line in LV. Seems like a lot of guys here dont get it. Which is understandable as some to get your affection of watches.... I, for one, get both.

Although I take everything on Wiki with a truck full of salt, this might help you find it :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orient

Orient is also a London (not very good) football team; official name is Leyton Orient.

Love that LV

x2 for Saddleback Leather.

My sister has a LV purse that she's had for a year. It's held up really well, even though it gets heavy use as her purse and as a diaper bag/toy chest for her two small kids.

Saddleback leather has a totally different style, but the quality is second to none. They're a great company with great values and sell the best leather stuff around IMHO.

Some Rolex and LV swag. Havent been wearing any of my LV. The only thing I do love is the pocket organizer wallet.
