I wear mine most days. It’s a steel Rolex after all…

No issues at all. Every 10 years you’ll send it in for service and get those minor scratches taken care of.

No point owning a watch like that and not enjoying it IMO.

My normal go to daily watch is black dial 116500. Love it! Comfortable. Goes with everything.

I've daily-ed both a 116500 stainless white dial and a 116508 yellow gold champagne dial. The Daytona is an awesome daily watch and very legible once you get used to it. If you like to time stuff, using the chronograph is a lot of fun.

I wear my Black 116500 almost daily except for some days that I switch it out. Certainly gets majority of the wrist time.

Absolutely an everyday watch, unless your mood changes for something different.

I do wish there was an unpolished bracelet option. That would take some of the fear factor away ha

I disagree on this.
I live in London I wouldn't go out in certain PM pieces at night.

I wish we lived in a world this wasn't the case

I think the Daytona is still an expensive sort after watch but still subtle compared to most

If a Bluesy (which is flashier and has buttery-soft scratch magnet PCLs) can be a daily driver, why not a SS Daytona?

The PCLs are largely a non-issue if you don’t rub the smudges off of them with your shirt and give a nice warm bath in Dawn every 1-2 days.

Yes, but I like to wear a different watch everyday, so no such thing as a daily watch for me.

I've got 2 16520 but they don't get daily duty. I prefer a modern Sub or GMT for that.

Yes, it fits reference 116520 and 116500, not 126500.

Have to agree the Daytona is just a watch nothing more, and like all watches when bought they are meant to be worn. And when serviced any normal wearing scratches easily rectified by those nice persons at RSC.

I sourced red hands and had them installed to make the watch more legible.

Wore it daily about 17 years. My Rolex Trained Independent watchmaker finally serviced it not long before I parted with it. He said nothing was wrong and it looked great. No polish, ultrasound only cleaning, reassembly, and go. Damn, I was stupid and miss it. Biggest Rolex mistake was letting it go. AND, I'm talking about my love for wearing it, not the damn money.

I wore a platona as my daily for a bit, paired well with my suits. Looking for a 6263 and will likely daily that in the near future.

Every Rolex can be worn every day based on how they’re made and their durability.

As far as safety goes where each person lives, that’s a different story

^^This is the answer^^^. After that it all depends on your personal lifestyle and daily activities what watch fits best.

Considering treating myself my currently daily is a 2024 sub date.

I'm conscious the 116520 is heavily polished and the tarnishing could drive me insane? What's people's experiences?
I daily a 116500 and it's all scuffed up which I don't care. I know some people care a lot about scuffs and scratches which is weird for myself as I don't buy watches to "admire" or sell. However, I know people who can't even stand a photo not being straight. :)

Just my 2 cents not sure if you have experience with 4 digit ref Rolex/Daytonas specifically, but I bought a 6263 big red late 2022 with a similar idea and ended up trading it back a month or two later. The smaller size, brushed everything is so nice that it would be a perfect daily, way less flashy and way more discrete. But it just felt so delicate on my wrist to wear out, let alone daily. The hollow end links and bracelet, acrylic crystal, just build quality in general after wearing modern Rolex had me concerned. The idea and concept ended up being more alluring than the reality, but again just my opinion and take. There is really no more beautiful Daytona reference though.

If I could get a modern 6263, brushed everything, same smaller 36-37mm size, same dial, modern bracelet movement and clasp, I would be wire ready yesterday..

YMMV!!
