Day Date.
Not unobtainable for me. As a matter of fact I logged on Feb.1 after tiring of getting ghosted by the AD ready to pay the 47k it was last time I checked only to find it had jumped up to 53k.
Decided to get a TT Wimbledon DJ in rose gold while waiting.
Only intending to trade that in if the AD makes the "call" or if the DD comes way down on the grey. In the meantime give it a little wear.
53k just seems like too much for a basic YG DD.
Of course, like Fagin at the end of the musical "Oliver", I reserve the right to always be "Reviewing The Situation"!

What is the one watch you want but feel that you will never be able to acquire?

It was a Day Date 36 for a lonnnnnnnng time. I gave up on buying new and picked up an early 80s 18038 and it’s fantastic. With this and my other watches, I’m just enjoying what I have now.

For giggles though, owning a Patek 5712 would be wild. Having the funds to ever get one though…not likely.

How so? Has Day Date changed prices lately?

A quick dash out of the store and it would have been mine...for a couple of hours, until the cops showed up:

I don’t care for the ceramic Daytona but I do like the pre ceramic 116520 in white dial form...but I like it at $12k or so and not at today's prices...so it's one I never expect to own. Even if I was convinced it would go to $40k in a few years I wouldn't spend $25k+ today because I would buy to keep, and it just isn't worth $25k+ to me.

So I guess it isn't so much can't ever get or can't afford...more stubbornness over the pricing.

Zeitwerk (Striking Time)

Considering their rarity and my annual salary, I'll be happy if I'm just in the same room with one someday.

ALS Datograph. Out of the budget for somebody in my line of work, but I love my work so I don’t mind at all. I enjoy photos of other peoples’ Datos!

5370p.

It would demand selling all my pieces and keeping something like a ss sub and it. Although that 2 watch collection would be amazing imo, I think I get more enjoyment out of my current line up than I would in that scenario.

I’ll speak up for the commoners:

Black Bay Chrono panda. I’ve been trying for several months with multiple ADs. I don’t want to go grey. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to get one.

Of course, there are worse things to happen in the world.

Should have bought one new years ago when they were $6000 but kept waiting. Now if I’m spending that money, it’s for something much nicer.
