I take offense at your comment, "old mans watch". How do you describe an "old man"? I'm in my seventh decade. I wear SS sub no-date, SS YG WG datejusts, WG DD. If you are fortunate enough to reach your seventh decade, I'd be curious to know what Rolex model you are wearing.

I am 26.

I think it depends on skin color, YG/Steel does not look good on me. Makes me look very 'old.'

However on the flip side RG/Steel or solid RG looks very good with a little 'glitz' My 'dream watch' is a RG Daytona.

I thought you had two DJ41s already?

Still go Jubilee for definite. When I bought mine the AD happened to have a 2 year old DJ2 with oyster bracelet in as a trade. The bracelet was very noticeably scratched, as was my experience with the oyster on my Sub. Part of the reason the Sub went after 4 weeks.

One of yours (if I'm correct?) is oyster, the other jubilee so you should be able to decide?

You did well reaching your seventh decade getting offended that easily 😄

Look I’ve said I like them and I’m probably going to get one soon , The ‘Old Mans watch ‘ quote is something I’ve heard many times on this forum and with people I speak to.
I own several Rolex already at 41 , I’ve gone through a lot of diffenet stages of owning watches over the years and have recently bought two steel DateJust 41s which I never would have thought I’d be interested in if you’d asked me a couple of years ago.

Considering that '50 is the now new 30' and so on, it's getting more difficult to establish what an 'old man' actually is. To a 20-something, the mid-40s seems kind of old but try conveying this POV to someone pushing 50.

Attention to fitness/diet, Viagra/Extenze supplements, hair replacement therapy and cosmetic surgery have pretty much phased-out the perceived sense of 'mid-life crisis' endured by many of our male forebears. The fountain of youth is in full swing but it can be expensive to maintain.

As a result, using a TT Datejust as an age indicator is somewhat irrelevant and misleading.

Simple: If you like it, buy it. If not, don't! I like it and bought it. There is no right or wrong.

Yeah I’ve been wearing the smooth bezel on the oyster for work and it’s picking up plenty of scratches (I used to wear my Hulk before I got That ) but I’m not too bothered about a few knocks .
The one of the jubilee I love , I’ve been wearing that more when I’m home (I work for an oil company in Siberia) more than any of my other watches , sometimes I just find myself looking at it for ages for no reason .
I really fancy going the full ‘Old man ‘ and get it on a jubilee but not sure if I can pull it off , the chocolate dial iis the only TT 41 I like at the minute .
I’m also wondering to get a TT blue dial sub which is a similar price

I don’t care if it’s an old man’s watch. The RG/SS Datejust is a gorgeous watch that, like most Rolexes, looks way better in real life than on-line. It’s your money, buy what you want.

Besides, TT watches actually seem to be quite popular among the college students I interact with. The difference is most college students don’t have an extra $10,000+ to spend on a watch.

It’s definitely a retro look, but I think it’s classy. Would love to own one someday.

Yup...mid life crisis...definitely comin up Eva123...lol..I went thru that too!
I'm 61 now...and like TT a bit as a change of pace..but when I was thinkin about getting one a couple of years ago....my wife said..nice watch..but you would never wear it..
I thought to myself..she is right..and..I don't need to look...any older than I already do..

so I started looking at the YM TT..and it does not have that old dude vibe to it..it has another vibe though..I just have to think about having it on my wrist or not..but it really glows in the metal..

My late father wore TT watch, my late father in law wore TT Datejust. So to me, TT watch is an old man's watch.

I'm 18 wearing one. It's an amazing classic. Wear the watch you want, not the one others want.

Curious. If a TT Datejust is purported to be an 'old man's' watch, which model Rolex would reflect the typical mindset and/or lifestyles of the Millennial generation?

Or are most of them into 'smartwatches'?

TT is best when you have a bit of grey hair regardless of actual age.

If anything, I think of a YG Day-Date as an older man's watch. Both my grandpa and uncle wear one, so that's why I think of it in that way.

The RG TT Chocolate fluted/jubilee is stunning and a thing of beauty. If you like it, buy it!

Think daytona, sub, or GMT. I think the 5 digits are actually perhaps a bit in sync with the hipster vibe etc. I'm 33 so I'm on the cusp of millennialism, I don't feel like a millennial though.

As someone who loves djs and dds I think it’s perfect modernisation of a classic. I’m in my early 30s. I’ve worn a 36 Dj since high school

Ss subs or tt subs are old men watches lol :)
And to add I think most rappers only exclusively wear daydates or plain Jane presis (aka champagne dials no diamonds)

On the other hand, it's kind of ironic how women who opt to wear 36mm+ Rolexes don't seem to be as 'model conscious' when it comes to the particular style. Especially taking into consideration that women in general are seemingly more sensitive about age (and appearance) than men as they get older.

In their case (no pun intended), it could be more along the lines of a 'size matters' criteria as some younger women feel that a 26mm Rolex is a middle-aged/old lady's watch.

Go figure.

I am 27 and have been wearing a TT datejust for almost a year. It’s currently gets the most wrist time of my rolexes. It’s not just for old men, it’s a classic. Age never matters when picking cars or watches. If you can afford it and you like it buy it.

IMO the TT look had its day, but that day has passed. Kinda like square toed shoes and stonewash jeans.

Thanks. Don’t see many of the Ivory Baton dials around. It’s difficult to photograph to get a true colour tone of what the dial actually looks like to the eye, but that pic captured it perfectly. The Ivory perfectly complements the gold IMHO.
