Probably the two tone Daytona and the blue Sub, although ironically I ended up getting neither of them!

growing up in the 80's I was 20 in Dec, 1982 I wanted a sub date that was the 1st Rolex I ever wanted. I had a cousin and a lot of friends that had one at the time. I had a seiko thats all I could afford back then.... I eventually got the Sub in SS and In black TT but not until I was in my 40's

My parents has a matching TT datejust, thats first time
I recognise this brand. Then came across the pics of
1675 in the internet, fell in love with this model, but can't
afford complete and original 1675 at the moment, thus I settled
with 16710 for now.
Older GMT is the only model I truly like from the brand.

This Tudor Submariner given to me back in the '60s. My passion has evolved into the Sea Dweller I own now.

in the jewelry store's window where I worked part time

I liked the 3 buttons on the side and the 3 black thingies
inside the white dial with the red perimetric line...lol

It was a big deal to buy (back then and now) even at 50% off especially when
you were making $3,75 an hour

This watch introduced me to Rolex
and I started a collection of many Rolex watches
with my military 1915 silver Rolex "dust proof" as my pride and joy.

I've grown up in a family of Jewellers and watch lovers, so I guess my passion for Rolex was inevitable! My grandfather and uncle have always worn YG Day-Dates for as long as I can remember, and my Dad has several different ones, including an 18Ct moonphase Blaincpain, a Jaeger and a very simple and understated Rolex Oyster on a strap. I pretty much grew up in the jewellery shop, and my first love (as a toddler, I might add) was clocks - apparently I kept a closer eye on the movement of the stock than some of the staff!

As for Rolex, it took a few months from me starting at the shop (which is a little over two years ago now) for me to start taking a real interest in Rolex - I was fed up of having to get help from more senior members of staff! So I gradually built up my knowledge, stuck my nose in the master catalogue, started out with the basics, and I began to appreciate just how special these watches are. It took a little while longer for me to actually get the chance to wear one - it was a leavers' meal at my school, and as we were all in formal dress for the event, I needed a watch to match! I managed to persuade my Dad to let me borrow a pre-owned Sub Date from the shop, and that's when I began to feel the Rolex magic for the first time. This was just a couple of months before my 18th birthday, and so I got talking about the prospect of having a nice watch. I initially had my heart set on a GMT IIc, but was told point blank that it wasn't going to happen

In the end, I got the all clear to pick out a Datejust 116200, and I can't begin to tell you how long I ummed and ahhed over what dial to pick. With a choice of about 30, the vast majority of which I liked, it wasn't easy! In the end, the one that kept drawing my eye was the black Arabic dial - a great mix between a classic and modern look, as well as a dial that isn't often seen. I've never seen the shop stock my particular dial, and I've only ever seen one come in on the wrist of a customer. It's no coincidence that the day I got the watch was the day I joined TRF!

One and a half years down the line, I've become a self professed Rolex specialist, and I love to talk watches with my customers. I don't spew any nonsense, and let them know the pros and cons of the watch, warts and all. I think the real collectors appreciate someone not giving them the usual spiel you get in ADs, and I'd like to think, in my own little way, that I'm making the experience just that little more honest.

Anyway, that's my watch life story, and as I expect to go into watch retail full time afer I graduate, I hope to indulge my passion for many years to come!

Thinking about it, when i was younger my dad had a datejust TT with an oyster bracelet. My uncle had a datejust with the jubilee bracelet. Those were the first rolex's i can remember. I wish my dad had kept it!

In the late 70's for me it was a GMT TT root beer on the jubilee that got me going. In south Florida those days there was lots to catch your eye, but that was the one that turned my head. I ended up with a DJ TT as my first. I'm still craving a GMT 1675 YG or TT . So far I've remained happy with my SS model.

Although my first was a white dial EXII, after I had that for a few years and sold it, then a few years later I saw the 1016 Explorer and the dial was so alluring, I was mesmerised. But I couldn't find a suitable one for a year or so, instead I got a current model 140270 Explorer.

So the spark was definitely the vintage Rolex 1016 Explorer

First it was the Submariner, in black (looking at it in ads, movies and at stores), then I saw the Yachtmaster, and I really liked it, but when I saw the Explorer II and its 24-hr hand, I knew it was the one. At that point the only decision was between the white and black dial. I went with black and I really like it (it's on my wrist as I type this and I just put it next to my ear to hear its music).

I bought a G m t (1675) PEPSI second hand in 1985, wore that for 13 years.
